I booked directly with the owner Ann several months before our stay. We arrived by bus as we had got the train to Alnmouth, the bus stop is right outside just before The Oaks pub.
There are 3 rooms, all a decent size. We had a room with a 4 poster bed which sounds glamorous but isn't as it takes over the whole room, also I sunk in to the very worn matress. Within our living space we had a lounge area with a decent tv with freeview which was pretty good. Bathroom was fine.
As I said breakfast was very tasty. My one problem was that the owner Ann wanted us to have breakfast first thing each morning at 0830. We had been to a wedding one night and could have done with a lay in.
One thing I will advise is that when it comes to payment take your cheque book or loads of cash. When we were leaving we were advised there is no card machine so had to go in to the town centre which is a 12 minute walk and get cash.
