Check in was good, room and ensuite nicely decorated, clean and modern. Breakfast is a generous choice of the usual cold things but a very odd main selection of either meat, (ham, salami) or fish, (herring, trout pate, sardine) with potato salad, slice of cheese, beetroot, tinned peach slice and twiglets. If you like a full English, stay away! Breakfast is also served in the room, and the host, who was generally professional and friendly brings it to your room the night before to go in the fridge. However this means you are waiting for him to bring it, (one night we were there this was at 9.15pm) and thus its harder to relax. Other quibbles were that most of the digital tv channels didnt work most of the time, and the water pressure in the shower was so low it was just a dribble, despite a smart new shower. However the gardens were very nice and it was peaceful exept when the lawns were being cut. Its about a ten minute walk to the centre of Alnwick. A good stay but could... more
