The Estate House is quite a find. If you can find it! But whether its the right place for you is another matter. It is currently rated four stars by Enjoy England, though I noted at the time of booking that this rating is pending a grading review. It's a beautiful house and garden in a stunning location, the delightful conservation estate village of Ford near Berwick upon Tweed. The website states they are dog-friendly and I enquired about this and was confirmed. However upon arrival I was told my dog was not expected and it was inconvenient because the owner's dog was in the house. This was overcome but it did not make a very good first impression on me.

We felt that the owners are rather skimping on essentials. My partner and I (separate bedrooms) both noted noisy beds which banged the wall everytime we moved during the night, double beds are supposed to have a bedside table either side of the bed, but we both only had one.
