My friend and I stayed here as a stop off on our cycle ride to Edinburgh. We chose it because it had safe cycle storage under cover. The room we had was fabulous...after a long days cycling it was just what we needed, we got a takeaway, sat on the little sagbags in our room and watched one of the... More

I was here for the bank holiday weekend and loved my time here. Booking was straightforward online and received all the required information the week before arrival. The hotel is nicely situated on a quiet street near the town centre, also handy for historic sights and nice places to eat. I stayed in the sumptuous red room, decorated in traditional... More

This is a true gem of a place. We stayed for 2 nights, and in that time could not find a single thing that wasn't excellent. Breakfast was superb. The large double bed was really comfortable and the shower was to die for! Little touches like real milk and coffee in the room, and a selection of locally hand-made soaps... More

Ian welcomed me by name when we arrived at this easy to find guest house, a good touch. The parking was easy, right outside, with a pass that he provided. Upon entry to the clean, welcoming hall, we were lead up to the room we were to stay in. The large, well appointed room, with lovely antiques was unfussily furnished,... More

We loved this easy to find B&B. Very large huge ceilinged room with large bed. Large luxurious modern bathroom en suite with excellent shower. Fresh tea and milk provided with own small fridge. Breakfast generous and communal with other guests which was a pleasant change. Would visit again. More

Ian was very welcoming and was keen to ensure that all our needs were catered for. Breakfasts were excellent and served at a communal table allowing us to chat with the other guests. Ian gave us tips on what to see an where to go and also allowed us to borrow books to make the most of our stay. More

A last minute booking and was not disappointed. All very clean, well decorated, friendly and welcoming. I wish that we had had longer to stay. Breakfast was a first, porridge with whisky and not a mean dram at that - glad husband did the drive further north! Certainly a good place to stay, thank you very much. Ingram More

Northumbrian House proved to be an excellent base for exploring Northumberland and the borders. Ian made me feel very welcome and was a splendid host. The Green Room was extremely comfortable for the solo traveller and had some nice touches - slippers/bath robe, wonderful tolietries, yummy biscuits. And, breakfast was superb. I would happily recommend this and hope to go... More
