Stayed in room 4 and it was very comfortable, can't comment on other rooms. The self catering kitchen was good but there could be a problem if a few people tried to use it all at the one time. Had one of the best Indian meals ever at the Villa Spice Indian Restaurant in the town. All in all a... more

A top place to stay. Friendly, warm, 'make yourself at home' welcome, breakfast, internet included and the welcoming hosts! Lovely single room, I could store my bike too. Right by Berwicks Old Bridge and on the Lowry trail - almost in one of the paintings! Great local fish and chip shop round the corner too. I will definately come back.... more

When you stay here get a room in the main house. Grade 2 listed Georgian town house full of original features, high cielings with grand cornice, massive marbal fireplace in the dining room and fantastic pine staircase. Its right in the centre of town across the road from Barrels Ale house (Best pub in Town) Fantastic place to stay. We... more

We stayed for three nights and can guarantee its great reviews. The Lonely Planet and Rough Guide weren't wrong. This is an excellent place to stay. For starters, the location is very good for exploring the lovely coastal villages, towns and castles surrounding Berwick either by foot, bike, car or public transport. The hostel, and yup it is more like... more

Excellent hostel that seemed more like a good B&B where you wash up after breakfast. Very friendly owners, clean rooms, lovely old building with oak beams in the ceiling, en-suite bathrooms, good location right in the middle of the town, cheerful little courtyard to sit in when the sun comes out. At that price you can't ask for much more.... more

Let's put it this way; I've stayed in hotels charging a king's ransom and not had anywhere near the comfort and excellent standard of service given by Ian and Angela in Berwick. It's a great place with great people and a bloody good breakfast as well. What more can I say? Well I could say that of the morning you... more

This hostel is well located, only minutes from Berwick-upon-Tweed city centre and from the river front and castle. More like a B & B than a hostel, this place was without doubt one of the nicest hostels that i have stayed in (and i've stayed in quite a few!). With beds properly made with sheets and duvet, theres no need... more

A lovely, family-run hostel tucked close-in to the centre of Berwick-upon-Tweed. This hostel is clean, comfortable and well-maintained by Ian and Angela who live on site. A splendid 'do-it-yourself' breakfast (which turns out to be something of a feast) is included in the price. The kitchen is well-equipped for self-catering and nice touches like the flowers and photos on the... more

Berwick was our final overnight stop over after an 8 day motor cycle tour of Scotland, We used a variety of hostels during our trip and can easily say that Berwick Backpackers was the best place we stopped at. Great room, comfy beds, hot showers, splendid common room with a wonderful breakfast to start you on your journey. The people... more

Better than anticipated. Room was very quiet, comfortable and secure. Didn't get a chance to use kitchen facilities but the kitchen appeared to be more than adequate for our needs. Owner (Angela?) was very helpful and seemed genuinely interested in us. Location is very convenient to Berwick (walked from/back to the train station) and Spittal. The (historical) bridge is literally... more
