My partner and I were self catering this holiday but had previously stayed at the Crown and had had a wonderful holiday. Upon entering the pub we received a warm welcome and were remembered from our last visit, no mean feat considering the thousands of people who must come through their doors. The landord and landlady Keith and Rachel are... more

Whilst staying on the Island on a very snowy weekend in December, we ventured into this pub after a long walk with our dog and what a find! Firstly they were happy for us to bring our dog in. We were all cold and the roaring fire was most welcoming. It was a bit like going into your own living... more

We were staying self catering for 12 nights on Lindisfarne. From the first time we walked into the Crown and Anchor it was as if it had always been our local. All the staff are very friendly, the atmosphere is relaxing, the beer is very well kept and the food is delicious. more

We stayed overnight on the way to Edinburgh. There is not a lot to say other than it is friendly, oldish, clean and comfortable. The location is good with the door directly out onto a path to the Castle, however I doubt there is a bad location in this village. The breakfast and evening meal were ok. Typical pub food.... more

Rachel and Keith, the proprietors, are very welcoming and all of the staff are very friendly. We have stayed and eaten at the Crown and Anchor many times and tried most of the menu. The latest addition is delicious home made Glamorgan bangers made by Kirsty. You can choose to relax in the casual bar or enjoy the restaurant, or... more

The main reason I would book again is the fantastic atmosphere here. From the second we walked through the door Keith and Rachel made us feel very welcome. The rooms are nice with very comfortable beds and the breakfast is well worth getting up for. Nothing is too much trouble all the staff are so helpful and friendly so thank... more

When we heard the Crown & Anchor was under new management we were concerned it would change – and it has, but luckily whilst that means it is different, it is not necessarily bad. The refurbished rooms are of an excellent quality, large comfortable bed and improved TV (now with more than three chanels!). The service has, if anything, improved.... more

A bit pricey but you have to expect this on the island. I had a large room, which was clean, and with a good view of the abbey. The food was excellent. I didn't have an ensuite room, but had a private bathroom close by. more
