It is many years since I took a short break in the UK and based on this experience it will be many more before I take another one. The reality of the Percy Arms bears no resemblance to the fantasy of their web site. It is filthy throughout - the decor, the carpets, the bedrooms and the bathrooms - I... more

My friend and I stayed in this hotel for one night, we only paid £48 for our double room with laterooms.com which I thought was really cheap considering how impressed we were with our room. It was a large room with good view, a comfy double bed with canopy over and had a seating area and dressing table. The furnishings... more

Was just looking for a place to stay so turned up. Had not seen the reviews on TripAdvisor. Reception was friendly and helpful. Showed me the room. Excellent. Had a newly refurbished room with plenty of space and a seating area. Free wireless internet - worked well. I needed a map printing off. The manager was extremely helpful - let... more

My wife and I chose this hotel because the one we normally stayed at was full at the time we wanted to visit Northumberland, we made the worst mistake ever in booking the Percy Arms, we found the receptionist not very welcoming at all, the room we were given had the bath side hanging off plus lots of other things... more

I would only suggest you stay at this hotel if you really don't have much option. I think I got lucky and got a refurbished room or certainly one of the nicer rooms. That meaning a wooden floor, new pine bed and fresh white linen. Stories of the other rooms were mouldy carpets, creaking beds, broken bathrooms etc. It isn't... more

This is not a £100 a night hotel. Service was poor, staff friendly but not enough of them. No-one at reception, watching television! Food was acceptable but the sauce on my meal had begun to congeal before the vegetables arrived. Bedroom was perfectly adequate but the bathroom was not really up to standard, chipped bath, tiling left a lot to be... more

The interior would have been tasteful, if we were 103 & blind. The rooms are grubby, haven't seen a paintbrush since 1974, i would complain about the mold, but at least it disguised a large patch of the gruesome floral wallpaper. The beds were clean & relatively comfy however this has been negated by the fact that myself & my... more

We were given a four poster room which we would have been pleased with if it hadn't had been minus 25 and had a grotty bathroom. The cobwebs and dust on the top of the four poster should have provided us with a bit more warmth but unfortunately they did not. The food was very good on the plus side... more

Where do I start? Myself and 3 of my work colleagues stayed here for 1 night in October 2006 (Was supposed to be 4 but we booked out early) Check-in it was prompt and without fuss. The young lady was polite and efficient. This was the highlight of the stay though. One of the previous reviews states that the locals... more

I think that the previous posting is far too generous. I am an experienced traveller and I have never bothered to write a review before, however I feel compelled to say something about this place. Basically it is an absolute dump! The rooms are dirty, uncomfortable and virtually uninhabitable. The shower was obviously adhering to the current water shortage guidelines... more
