We stayed here for a few nights in August before our wedding. Sadly, unknown to us the hotel was booked for 3 wedding receptions during our stay. Our room was directly over the function room so sleep was impossible until the party was over which was around 2-30am. Staff are not the most friendly or efficient. The hotel itself is... more

Looking for a hotel to explore a part of England we had not been to before, we chose this hotel at random and were extremely pleasantly surprised. Very friendly reception, individually decorated bedroom with newly refurbished en-suite shower room, perfectly comfortable bed, nice toiletries, nice biscuits. Food beautifully cooked and plentiful. Breakfast included option of poached haddock with poached egg... more

Its a diamond in the rough, the hotel has had alot of refurbishment done to it with outstanding results, The staff could not have been more helpful. All very proud to be working for such a stunning hotel. The weekend we chose to stay there were 2 weddings happening, but this did not affect our stay, we had a fantastic... more

So nice to see a proper british inn, not an over-done gastropub! Amazingly fresh local food cooked simply and well. Sitting by the fire with great food and great company made the whole experience good value, will definitely be returning more

The hotel looked beautiful from the outside and you couldn’t even tell that it was a hotel; it looked like an old historic pub. I think it was built in 1142AD or something in that range, had a board on the outside that displayed it. The room was very good sized; I had a double and a single bed in... more

This is a potentially nice hotel in absolutely run-into the ground condition. Sorry but does not warrant the £95/person/night so £190/night for a double room price tag. Service was fine but no better than average. The place is currently being refurbished so we had a great view of a skip , I was not happy since I thought it was... more

As said elsewhere this Hotel is a bit frayed round the edges but is charming in it's olde worldly way. The dining room is very school dinners and the food is a lottery. Sometimes it was excellent and other times was bland. Service varied. Some staff were elderly and others very young and inexperienced. The Head Waiter was more like... more

We stayed in Ye Olde Bell for five nights, because it was located perfectly for exploring Sherwood Forest, Nottingham, Lincoln and Doncaster.. The hotel is situated in a tiny village, which consists of the Hotel, a pub and a handful of houses. The Hotel has an interesting history. It was one of the most important coaching inns on "The Great... more

My wife and I received an invitation to have a complimentary meal at this hotel. The letter stated that the restaurant was award winning. Which award ? We went for sunday lunch, after driving for 45 minutes out of Nottingham. The atmosphere in the Hall was a cross between school dinners and an old people's home. The place went silent... more
