Don't stay here - it's awful. We arrived to a closed pub and had to work out how to actually get into our room. The room itself was tired and smelt damped, and worst of all it was dirty. The bed wasn't clean - there were unidentified 'bits' in there and the mattress felt like it was made of concrete.The... More

I am writing this review on behalf of two elderly relatives who do not have access to a computer. They stayed on Saturday, 23rd July, having travelled to the area for a family wedding. Initially they had booked for two nights, but owing to a change of plan they advised the landlord that they would only be staying for one.... More

Couldn't fault our first night, friendly welcome, comfortable room, Overheard the manager and the bar staff moaning about booking.com not notifying them about bookings, but we have experienced that it is the manager himself! We booked our stay (one night) through booking.com with no hassle at all. After arriving we thought it would be worth staying a second night, so... More

Although the resident drunk was friendly it's not what you'd list as a must have in a B&B. The landlord apologised for him and generally the service was excellent and they were very keen to ensure we had a good stay. The food was excellent in the evening though the fry up in the morning was 3/10 cheap sausage, manky... More

We had a very pleasant stay here. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We didn't eat there because the new owners were changing the menu at the time. When we arrived we were put into a very dark twin room having asked for a double room but were moved to a family suite which was certainly an upgrade! With... More

This Place has gone from a great place to stay to one I would not suggest anybody ever stay at again until the manager is replaced by someone who understands hospitality. My friends and I have stayed here for the last 3 years. On the first year we could not fault it, indeed I recommended it to be used by the... More

The bar was unexceptional and the rooms themselves quite pleasant. Everything else about this place was an unmitigated disaster, blamed by the landlord, who has apparently been in post for only 8 weeks, on his staff, but in reality clearly due to managerial incompetence. Instead of cups and saucers, the hospitality tray in our room was equipped with thick two... More

It's small, it's quiet and frankly under patronised but it is clean, friendly, comfortable and welcoming. I'd certainly stay there again. More

Appears to have be managed on behalf of new owners. Service however needs to improve in most areas if the business is to be successful. Rooms were clean and tidy but only to an average standard. Select on menu was limited, service adequate only. The managers were welcoming, courteous, and attentive, but there is a need for improvement in most... More

You may have noticed I have reviewed the Star once before. I had a generally good experience and thought it represented decent value for money. Let's face it: £50 for b&b - you pay your money and take your choice. On reflection it had been a little noisy last time, but then I was probably one of the early risers.... More
