We have just returned from a lovely weekend at the Coach House. Service was excellent from the minute we got there. The food was amazing ranging from lovely cooked breakfasts (recommend the breakfast Hash) to superb evening meals (Ham Hock starter and Beef Rib main were both excellent) with the most unusual and tasty Apple Crumble. Bar was well stocked and was nice to be able to get a decent pint after our walk. Room was good with comfy bed and an excellent shower and it was so quiet. Good location in a lovely part of the world close to Bishops Castle and around 30 minutes from Shrewsbury. Was nice to be able to take our Labrador dog with us and not worry about offending people as we ate in a separate area. Can’t wait to return

Dear Andyb4444, Thanks for taking the time to write a review for us and such a positive one as well. We are all very grateful for your generous comments and are really happy that you loved what we do so much. Your visit was impeccably timed with the arrival of our new head chef Blair and he seems to have made quite the impression on you. His food is really inventive & yet comforting at the same time. We are very lucky to have found him and he will be made up to read this review as will our excellent Front of House team. We look forward to your next visit. All the very best, Sean & the Coach House team

We first visited in June this year for my partner's birthday - and were stunned by the incredible quality of the cooking and the wonderful front of house service provided by Ben and his excellent team, This time we went for my own big day - and although we made sure we didn't get too excited beforehand, just in case it didn't live up to last time. We needn't have worried on that front - it surpassed last time's experience even further! Young Harry's cooking really is a class above and encompasses flair, passion and great skill in equal measure. If cuisine was football - he'd be on a par with a young Lionel Messi! Thanks again to Ben and his lovely staff for looking after us so well during our (overnight) stay and thanks too to Harry for coming out after service and letting us slur our appreciation of the evening to him. Whilst we're happy on one hand to learn that this fine young man, after years of hard graft, is taking time out to go traveling and enjoy himself for a while, we're at the same time (selfishly on our part) quite sad that we won't be indulging in his sumptuous culinary skills any time soon :( We'd like to wish him all the very best in his new adventures and say that whoever takes over his post has a very very hard, nigh on impossible job of filling his supremely talented shoes.

Dear JB, Thanks very much for your incredibly positive review. A returning customer is the ultimate compliment to us and your praise is gratefully received. Of course we are sad to see Harry go but we support him as we always have done. We wish him every luck in whatever he chooses to do in the future. Please rest assured though that we have no intentions of letting the standards drop in anyway. We don't entertain words like impossible. If we had the Coach House wouldn't even exist. We will be announcing Harry's replacement in the New Year and we are very excited. Our new chef comes with the skills, experience and vision to start the next chapter in the Coach Houses story and we think you will all love his food. The proof will quite literally be in the pudding, we look forward to seeing you again in the New Year. All the very best,

It is rare that I feel compelled to write a review on any platform; however, I am inspired to on this occasion, just in case you are passing The Coach House - I strongly recommend you give it a try. We live locally and had not previously eaten at The Coach House, but friends recommended it, so we thought we would give it go - they were right, it is superb. We were made to feel incredibly welcome from the moment we arrived, and settled down to enjoy the elegantly simple Sunday Roast menu. Most of us had 3 courses and the food was all excellent - lovingly prepared, very fresh, unpretentious yet with touches of sophistication. The starters and sweets were exceptional, with subtle elements of invention and taste combinations. The mains were perfect, wholesome roasts with a delightfully presented combination of veg, all expertly cooked. I think you can tell when food is prepared with a desire to achieve excellence, and that was the sense I got from all of the food. The whole experience was completely relaxed and felt rather special. I strongly recommend The Coach House - we will be back, soon.

The Coach House is in the middle of nowhere - beautiful surroundings. Norbury is a tiny village which lies to the west of the Long Mynd. Excellent spot for walkers. We had a very nice & clean room with superking bed and ensuite. The staff were very helpful, particularly Ben. Unfortunately we were not able to stay for an evening meal as we were attending a function elsewhere - but heard they are well known locally for the restaurant.

We stayed here recently due to the proximity as we were attending a wedding locally . We were housed in an annexe room which was accessed from outside via a few steps I booked this accommodation months ago and was asked when I phoned which room I’d like I had a choice I did not choose to sleep outside in the annexe of that I’m sure . The room was comfortable well equipped main problem was tepid shower which we reported on first morning not only that on the next morning shower temp still tepid apparently it had been reported but obviously not fixed . Most unsatisfactory and unfortunately it has tarnished our experience at the Coach House

Dear Sue J, We are always sorry to see a guest express disappointment, especially if there was something we could have done to avoid it. We have since replaced the shower in question, thank you for bringing that to our attention. We are very sorry if this impacted your weekend. In the name of balance it should be noted that we did give you a discount as a gesture of goodwill and by way of an apology. If we could have got it fixed on the Saturday we would have, it just wasn't possible and we are sorry for that. The booking error leaves us confused as each customer chooses their preferred room from those available. We had 7 rooms reserved for your wedding group for many months only to have 5 rooms cancelled at the last minute. So you could have had any room that you had wanted when you booked. The rooms in the annexe are every bit as nice as those in the main house and any differences are reflected in the room rates. We are sorry that your experience of the Coach House has been tarnished. We would like to go further to try and redress that. Please email me sean@coachhousenorbury.com so that we can have a conversation. Best Regards, Sean

Myself and my family stayed at The Coach House as our over night accommodation for my brother’s nearby wedding reception. The staff were extremely friendly and warm with their welcoming. The hotel had that lovely old-worldly feel, with a beautiful church across the road (like something off of a biscuit tin). Furthermore, the staff were very attentive at breakfast and the cooked food was delicious, and the overall experience was far superior to most hotel/B&B breakfasts. Thanks for a great stay.

We stayed for one Saturday - 13th July 2019- night & had the most amazing three-course meal at The Coach House. The food is really at another level. We eat out a lot & while I am not the foodie as such, I recognise really wonderful food when I taste it. Absolutely glorious & life affirming stuff. Add in a beautiful sense of being out of the loud city & in the most beautiful English countryside, on a warm summer's evening- & you have (for us anyhow) ..perfection. *One small thing to keep in mind is that The Coach House is *not* a pub, or an Inn. It's a restaurant that keeps beautiful & stylish rooms. I think I/we forgot it's not a pub as we were on a rare night off from caring for our disabled young daughter & so we perhaps forgot that they are not running a pub & quaffing wine after 11ish, is a bit of a no-no. But that was down to us, not The Coach House. A wonderful experience that we will remember & I hope we will be back for another stay & to sample the 'autumnal' menu! Many Thanks to Ben, Clara & the team. You're all terrific!

We took a last minute decision to stay somewhere close to an upcoming family occasion and we weren’t disappointed. Everything about the Coach House is top class, from the welcome to the standard of accommodation. The food and service is superb, just the right amount of attention to detail without being ridiculous. It’s definitely deep in the countryside and the Wi-fi is patchy but hey, sometimes it’s time to look up from the screen and enjoy reality.
