I stayed here due to the fact of its location at the base of Cadair Idris,a mountain i've been looking to climb and explore for a while. I couldn't have made a better choice ! The setting, the rooms, the food were all spot on. Sitting in the lounge with a cold beer in front of the fire after a... More

We recently stayed at the Gwesty Minffordd hotel at the foot of Cader Idris. We were greeted by the proprietor in a warm and friendly manner. Unfortunately this was the warmest part of our stay - the room, though perfectly adequate was cold, and our radiators and heated towel rail had been turned off despite knowing we would be returning... We stayed here specifically so I could walk the Minffordd path to the summit of Cadair Idris, an ambition of mine for some years. Location was absolutely perfect, stunning views in all directions and literally yards from the foot of the mountain. My wife, who is an artist, spent the weekend painting, and was inspired by the scenery of the... More

I stayed here for one night in August following "Race the Train" in Tywyn. The hotel is set amongst the hills about 10 miles from Tywyn, so although fairly secluded was in easy striking distance of the coast and many local attractions. I was given a friendly greeting on arrival and felt relaxed and at home from the moment I... More

I must start by saying that we have not stayed here as we usually camp nearby. However, one of the attractions of this particular campground is that it is within walking distance of the Minfford Hotel foe evening meals. The food is great and they do a great selection of local beers and ciders. On a recent trip, after we'd... More

Small, comfortable and friendly. Fine for me as I had been up on the hill all day and came back for food and drink in the bar in the evening and one overnight stay with a good breakfast. Very well located for hiking Cader Idris from the south west, and just up the road from the access walking paths up... More

Stayed in a room which looked pretty newly-refurbished, with all mod cons. Excellent guests' lounge and games room with loads of books and board games. Bar well-stocked with local bottled beers which could also be bought as souvenirs in a gift pack. Breakfast was good, as was dinner on the one night we ate in. Owner perhaps a little over-attentive... More

"Views over Cader Idris"... no views, nothing, just looks at bottom of hill. "Complimentary toiletries"... they had prices on to pay for around the wash basin, not free. "Standard TV service"... no TV in the room, but this strange comment led me to think there was a TV, there was not. Hotel manager too talkative... just wanted to rest in... More

Thanks for your review I would like to comment on a few parts of your review. Cader Idris is literally in our back Garden, rooms have views up & down the valley and surrounding area & mountains opposite the hotel so I don’t understand your comments about no views, we don’t claim any particular view, but most people agree with... I love this place! It is in the middle of nowhere and a haven as such. I loved the room (Room 2), neat, warm and secure! I wish I had worked out that there was a switch for the power shower outside, before taking two showers in that mode :-)). The food here is excellent, and the service attentive. For... More
