This was our first visit to Hunstrete House. A warm welcome and offer of tea after being shown to our room. It was like stepping back in time and although there was no internet link in the room, we appreciated that we were staying in a"country home" with historical roots and that it was all part of the charm. The... more

The location of this property is lovely, a little bit isolated (good thing), but a short drive to Bath. The staff were incredibly attentive and the food was excellent. The food options particularly at breakfast were fantastic, and dinner was very good, with possibly the best Souffle for desert we have tasted. They also had a tasting menu that looked... more

We stayed at Hunstrete House to finish off a long weekend staying in Bath in December. It was easy to find and we received a warm welcome from the grounds staff when we were parking up - this was even before we got out of the car! After a very quick check in we were led into the garden area... more

We have just come back from our stay at this wonderful hotel. All the staff made you feel welcome and nothing was too much trouble. The atmosphere was warm and friendly and you were made too feel at home as soon as you arrived. The restaurant was rather expensive for our pockets but the quinessential menu that you could have... more

I loved this hotel. From being greeted and shown to my room, to the personal letter from the manager to welcome me, so the tea tray prepared and brought to my room on arrival and the rest of the attentive and friendly staff. I stayed at the hotel on a business trip. I had a beautiful room with views of... more

Truly awful. Polite, pleasant and helpful staff could not make up for the state of this hotel and the total lack of proper management. Our room was last decorated circa 1980 and contained a lot of old (not antique, just old and knackered) furniture and floral prints. Wallpaper featured a variety of damp spots and peeling edges. The bed was... more

We wanted a country house hotel, in a quiet location, that was not a typical chain hotel and we got it. The room we had was huge, full of antiques and overlooked the deer park. The grounds were large and the walled garden was a quiet spot to read. The bathroom was old and could do with a full revamp.... more

We stayed here for a night before flying out of Bristol airport (some 11 miles away). It is a lovely hotel, in very pretty countryside and reasonably convenient for both Bath and Bristol. We had a large, well-furnished room, suite even with a comfortable sitting area and two lovely window seats looking out over the garden. It was all so... more

My wife and I stayed here for two days between Christmas and New Year. The place was wonderful - set in large open grounds with deer in the fields. The room was large and well appointed and I loved the common areas with warm cosy sofas and fireplaces. They were able to recommend a few good pubs for dinner each... more

Charming, small country house in beautiful, peaceful setting and lovely communal rooms. We got a last minute booking for one night and so ended up with a larger bedroom than we would normally have been offered for the price. Overall we were pleasantly surprised with the experience. Nice touches such as bottled water in bedroom and chocolates on pillow. However,... more
