In the middle of the wooded Brendon Hills, the Royal Oak is great place for a get away: no mobile phone reception. The main bar is beamed with flagged fllors and old solid oak tables. Stayed with friends (eight of us) over New Year 2005/06. Great place, great welcome, super food. The New Years Eve dinner was superb and the atmsophere was wonderful. Stayed two nights here based on good reports in another guide.Very nice little Inn tucked away in a hamlet in Exmoor National Park.Typical country pub with stone flagged floors,stone walls etc. in bars but pleasant restaurant as well.Food above average for a pub served by very friendly efficient staff.Bedrooms again above average with good bathrooms.One of the three joint owners... more
