We recently spent a week camping at Moorhouse Campsite in Holford, Somerset, and towards the end of our stay were fortunate to find The Hood Arms in the nearby village of Kilve. The staff and local customers were all very friendly and welcoming but what impressed us most was how Dog-friendly this place was. Not only was our dog Ellie... more

Ended up staying here for much longer than intended due to weather & couldn't fault the helpfulness of the staff & hosts. The restaurant was great with an extensive specials board so luckily couldn't get sick of the menu! If you do stay here ask for rooms that aren't over the bar!! Lovely garden (if it stops raining) more

if you just want a local ale or two then this place is fine..order a pint , a packet hand cooked crisps and go and sit in the nice garden as we did...DO NOT stay here or order any food whatever you do..the rooms are overpriced, shabby with dirty, stained carpets...as for the food...are you sitting comfortably? the portions were... more

We ordered food at this establishment twice, the first time we were overcharged by £65 but we believed it was possibly an honest mistake. We decided to give the owner the benefit of the doubt and returned a second time to wait nearly an hour for the food! When the fish dish arrived (£15) there was hardly any fish, one... more

Great pub with good beer and food. Not so great to stay in unless you can sleep through the noise of HGV's passing just feet away in the middle of the night with no double glazing. Quiet enough between midnight and 4.30am so getting up early is a must, but unfortunately breakfast doesn't start serving until 8am. more

We waited 75 minutes for food, the fish and chips were OK but the chicken was very poor indeed. Before we left the chef appeared and apologised saying that the second chef had failed to turn up. It is a poor show if the kitchen of an Hotel can't cope with about 30 people. The waitress was very pleasant but... more

What can i say, the welcome was warm, the room superb and the food outstanding. Three days mountain biking over the Quantocks literally across the road. John the new owner is a top bloke, meets and greets and comes and chats through dinner. I cannot rate this Pub/hotel highly enough. Good beers and Local produce makes the menu a Somerset... more

If you want to have the chef come out from his kitchen and abuse you for arriving 15 minutes late, this is the place for you. You can then be punished by waiting an hour for your food, be given the wrong orders and then someone else's bill. The visit can be topped off by the manager refusing to apologise... more

We stayed for one night at The Hood Arms, the welcome we received was very warm and inviting. The room was quirky, clean and the bed very comfortable. We ate in the restaurant that night and both enjoyed a fresh fish dish each. Both the landlord and the chef came to chat with us at the table. We retired to... more
