I stayed in the barn with some friends after visiting Alton Towers for a day. It is in a great location that is quiet and peaceful.

When we arrived, we had a code to access the key lock where the keys were so we could arrive at any time.

We had a choice of 4 beds and a pull out bed from the sofa as well as three different shower areas which was ideal after a day at the theme park! The bed was super comfy and the bedding was nice and clean.

We drove about 10 minutes away to get a Domino's but they would have delivered. We also had to go to the supermarket to get some milk to go with the breakfast we were given.

There is also a resident cat who we found out via the guest book was called Poppy.

Had a very nice overnight stay having attended a wedding at a local resort.
I have to say that the location in Hilderstone is quiet but really nice.
The owner was very friendly and accommodating and very kindly change the booking for my parents to a ground floor cottage at short notice which was very much appreciated. Our room was cosy and very reasonable for the price.
We had a lovely breakfast of fresh fruit, cereal and full English which was fantastic and predominantly local produce (extra £5 charge)
Great value, nice location, friendly owners.
Thanks for taking great of my family and I will recommend you to anyone who needs to stay over your way!

Beautiful setting with wonderful scenery. The barn had plenty of room and lots of bathrooms! (Loved the wet room showers). Very comfortable and loads of space for us. Fantastic to sit outside and watch the sunset. We particularly loved seeing the horses and the dogs were so friendly and fun. We have a very lovely stay. Can highly recommend.

Because of the £100 overnight cost we were shocked at the cramped comditions and very basic amenities. We ate the breakfast which we prepared ourselves sitting on the bed. The furnishings are cramped, old and rather like student accommodation.

If you make a booking then they will ask for your card details to confirm the booking. They will then take the whole amount even if the trip is 10 weeks ahead as it was in our case.

On cancelling they will attempt to take £10 per night per room from your refund.

You will be informed that this is their policy and tough.

This B&B was extremely poor value for money. The room was small, the bathroom tiny. Breakfast was included in our price. For breakfast we were offered cereal and a piece of toast with coffee. All we had to make by ourselves!
They did not even offer help with our luggage.
We ordered a double bed and got two pushed together with the inevitable gap and a very poor night's sleep. Our overall impression was that they just wanted to take our money and provide nothing, no service at all.
We will never recommend this place to anyone.

We're very sorry that you were unhappy, all our other guests have been very happy with the room and bed. The breakfast included in our standard room rate is a self-serve continental breakfast, you were offered the chance to upgrade to the full English. Regards Phil & Jenny

Travelling solo to visit family locally, I stayed for one night only at Highfields Farm. Although I chose to stay here because it's conveniently close to where I needed to be, I also had a very positive impression from the website. I was delighted to discover on arrival, that these impressions were fully justified. Although neither Phil or Jennifer were on hand when I arrived, I was welcomed warmly by family and shown my room without fuss. The room itself was spotlessly clean and tidy albeit relatively small. However it's a bedroom afterall, and I was only going to sleep there!! Dominated by an extremely comfortable bed, it contained everything one would expect, to enjoy peace and convenience. A large en suite shower room complimented the room nicely, and the powerful shower provided a welcome kick-start to the following day's travelling. Breakfast was perfect. Cooked personally by Phil, I treated myself to a rare cooked breakfast made with local produce and thoroughly enjoyed it, especially the double-yoker!! Offered a multitude of additional options, I could happily have stayed seated all morning! Had I visited Highfields with a young family, I would certainly have taken advantage of the open invitation to visit the horses and other farm animals. As it is, I feel that Highfields Farm provided me with the ideal location and amenity to enjoy a very restful and convenient stop-over, and I will definitely stay there again during my next visit. I would have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone.

Pros:
- Location (close to Alton Towers)
- Good shower facilities

Cons:
The hosts don't read the requests placed upon booking: we asked for 1 double bed, nice view and quite room - we got 2 twins joined together (matters was in terrible state, it had 3 layers of extra cushioning on it and we slept on a duvet otherwise you can feel springs digging in your back), room overlooking parking (so neither view not quietness provided). When asked for another room we were told all is already booked and all guests arrived (even though one room was free and keys were in a door) and this room remained un-used for the whole duration of our stay (had a better view and we would like to swap but were refused with the attitude: you take the one which was assigned to you or you can look for another BB) - not the best customer service (me and my partner both have a background in hospitality and work in a Hotel and wouldn't rate this BB high) Continental breakfast - you have to make it your own and wash up(!!!) after yourself so its rather a self-service (with toast and yogurt provided) than proper bed & breakfast. Cannot comment on full English as we didn't opt for it.
We wouldn't stay there again nor recommend it to anyone - maybe we were just unlucky but nothing was done to make our stay more pleasant (bare in mind I booked the room 1,5 month in advance!)

The owner (Jenny) was lovely, very chatty, extremely helpful and welcoming when we came down for breakfast the next day, which made up for the initial lack of welcome from a member of staff when we first arrived and gave our name (It was as if we weren't expected, and we were kept waiting on the doorstep while the member of staff went and checked, and then we were asked to remove our shoes while she showed us to our room, which was a bit of a shock as we have never had to do that before at a B&B). The setting was lovely and the breakfast delicious, with fresh fruit the second morning. Plenty of shower gel and shampoo. Bathroom cleanliness excellent. Bed clean and comfortable. Best pillows I've ever slept on!

One drawback was that there was no lock on the outside of the bedroom door, which meant we had to leave our room unlocked with all our possessions in it while we were out all day and in the evening. I am sure they were completely trustworthy, but you can't account for other guests who could have entered our room at any time while we were out. As it turned out the other guests we met at breakfast were lovely, so we needn't have worried.

Would definitely stay there again if in the area.

We had a twin room in the annexe to the main house and it was exactly what we were looking for - spotlessly clean, crisp cotton bedding, quality quilts and pillows. The small kitchen downstairs was well stocked so that we could make a drink when we got back from our night out at Modershall Oaks Spa about 15 minutes away. We could have had a cooked breakfast for an additional £5 but opted for cereal and toast which we helped ourselves to in our kitchen.

We enjoyed a peaceful night's sleep in a beautiful setting and highly recommend Highfields.

If you don't know the area and are arriving in the dark we would recommend you allow extra time to find the farm as the road it's on is quite busy around 5ish and it's not easy to see the signs. We went past it twice but it was worth the hunt.
