A nice character laden period hotel with good all round, service, value for money, clenliness etc, food was a little average. Loctaed in the town centre, I had seen the poor reviews but had been booked by my company. Totally unfounded. I have stayed there since and will do so in the future. more

My husband an I were booked into this hotel by his company as they were having their Xmas meal here. We were put into one of the logde rooms. The smell in the corridor was dreadful. The bed was a dbl really only suitable for single person not someone 7mth pregnant and husband. No bath just a shower which was... more

Having read some of the other reviews I was concerned we had dropped a clanger by booking into the Crown. We needn't have worried. Our room was enormous and warm enough with a huge bay window overlooking the high street. The bed was very large with two pillows each. The large bathroom was clean and looked recently decorated. About the... more

we stayed at this hotel when we attended a wedding. well what can i say ? awful food for the wedding guests to eat, terrible smell in the ball room the smell of rotting food, i found most of the staff to be rather rude and stand there as though they couldn't really give a [--], the look on there... more

This hotel was by far the worst we have ever stayed in. Don't let the attractive facade fool you! behind lurkes a complete menace of a hotel. Lodge rooms are dirty and noisy and stuck in a time warp circa 1972. Breakfast service abysmal. Once we wiped the dirt off the menu we could see that most of the choices... more

Couldnt believe you even had to pay to park your... more

Up on arrival we were greeted by a lovely building and entrance, receptionist that was glued to the computer screen! and when asked yes please, from the back desk, we said can we check in please. she asked in a raised voice from the back room, what name as if it was... more

We didn't stay in the hotel but did have a Christmas dinner there. Everything was awful: no-one to greet us, long wait for drinks, no mineral water, flat Coke, tacky paper menu, dire food and atmosphere, no offer of a wine list etc. Was a real disappointment - and also embarrassment given we'd suggested it as a treat for the... more

Firstly i was greeted by a young receptionist who sat at the desk in the back office and just shouted to me at the front desk before realising she had to get up to check me in. She was quite abrupt asthough id pulled her from her fascinating computer screen?? Once i got to my room i found it to... more

I was not staying at the hotel as a resident, i merely popped in for a drink. upon my arrival the only bar man on the premesis had been sent on an errand ustairs and i had been waiting for some time at the bar on his return. although he was very appologetic and polite i had noticed in his... more
