We were originally booked in for just a Saturday night after a wedding but decided to make a weekend of it by travelling down on the Friday. We are both glad we did. Hidden gem is an understatement. The rooms (suites) were absolutely fabulous. The setting is superb with a river directly behind the rooms and a lovely garden in front. Ann could not do enough for us (I think you could have anything you wanted for breakfast) . The bed in the grain suite was the most comfortable we have ever slept in besides our own. It felt like a home from home and would recommend it to anybody.
The sandwich selection we had to 'keep us going' during the day of the wedding was served up in a wicker basket and would have put even Marks & Spencers to shame.
If you want a good meal whilst you are there. We strongly recommend the Bull, which is just a short walk away. If you ask Ann nicely she will book you a table as it gets very busy and is the best country pub we have been into...
