The room was ok, clean, a bit small and being so close to the A1(M) you get some traffic noise but it's bearable. The Food and some staff in the Resturant were not goot at all. We asked for half a pint of lemonade without ice and lemon. It came in a pint glass with ice and would've had lemon... more

I have stopped at this hotel quite a few times over the past few months. The staff range from surly to almost friendly but there is no warmth to the welcome even from the best of them. I have probably stopped here twenty times in three months yet there is never even a spark of recognition or a "Welcome back..!!"... more

Absolutely nothing wrong with this hotel. Rooms are on the small side but perfectly serviceable. Location is a challenge though. Fine if you have business nearby, which I had, but there is a lack of facilities in the area so you may have no choice but to eat in house.. Advantage - lots of free car parking! I'll be using... more

We stayed at this hotel for a weekend break at the end of May as we intended to visit the Beamish Museum and also explore the area. Being a Priority Club Platinum member we managed to get an upgrade to an Executive room. The room was a good size and quite weel appointed. We booked a promotional weekend break -... more

As part of a Shearings coach tour, my friend and I stayed at this hotel overnight on our way back from Dornoch, Scotland, to Norfolk. The room was clean and comfortable although the bathroom was tiny. Our huge gripe about this hotel was the way the tour party was herded into the restaurant at dinner time particularly. The "girl-in-charge" came... more

Stayed 1 night on a Sunday at the Summer Sale price of £39 for a double room bed & breakfast booked through the group website. At that price it was very good value, not really worth a lot more though. The room was recently decorated, spotless & fairly spacious. The air conditioning is a joke as previous reviews mention. The... more

Booked this Holiday Inn by mistake instead of Seaton Burn one. Was worried about previous poor reviews. No need to worry. Public areas including the restaurant seem to have been updated since last we stayed there including the bathrooms. Room perfectly adequate and breakfast of very high standard. They had a coach party in but that dfid not impact on... more

The Holiday Inn Washington was spotlessly clean, the staff were all friendly and helpful and the food was acceptable. The only problem was its location , just off a busy motorway - although ideal for businessmen, it was a little out of the way for families with teenage kids. We went on a coach tour and enjoyed our stay. The... more

Hotel staff were all excellent , as we were travelling with my disabled mother who uses a wheelchair and my father who has walking difficulties they had an accessible room that was suitable for their needs although for such large bathrooms a free standing shower would have been of benefit as not all disabled people can get into a bath... more
