I stay at a lot of HI and HIX on business, and this one is not the best, fine for a 1 night stop over if you dont pay to much, bed is comfortable, which is important to me, apart from that rooms could do with updating, minibar is empty, Tele is old big box, I find the HIX better... more

Good for the price. I stayed in this hotel to break a long drive up to Scotland. It would not win any awards for style the outside is very unremarkable. Inside it is not much better. The rooms are what you would expect in a holiday inn it was quite cold but when I worked out that the room temperature... more

What can I say, a nice clean comfortable room with good buffet breakfast for £39 for 2! The bar prices are normal hotel prices (i.e. expensive) but the room rate that you can find on the HI website more than makes up for this. The hotel is a magnet for coach tours but so long as you find out when... more

After looking at tripadvisor reviews I was absolutely dreading staying at this hotel - in fact even considered staying at home or changing hotels! I was staying with a partner for a brief trip to Newcastle arranged last minute. I braved the hotel and when I entered reception was greeted by a lovely smiling helpful young lady - Kirsty. I... more

I stay in Holiday Inn's probably twice a week and picked the HI Washington as the HI Express that I used to stay in 1/2 a mile down the road has been sold to Premier Inns. It is a fair sized hotel that was proabbaly built in the late 60's or some time in the 70's. The problem is is... more

I have just returned from a one night stay at this hotel. From the outside the building is very dated but once you step inside it is just the same as most other Holiday inn. The room was clean, fresh and had everything we needed for our stay. The staff were very nice and helpful. breakfast was fine - cooked... more

Its not that easy to write a review about this hotel, simply because there's not much to say about it. Its an ugly grey building and has rooms with beds, bathrooms and televisions. Its clean, a touch dated and well... boring. Its not a great location, sitting next to the A1 and a car drive away from anything useful and... more

stayed on business 2 nights - convenient for A1 but little else to recommend as it is the usual unwelcoming isolated piece of corporate unlove that this chain offers. Rooms OK in a faded 70's way but charging system bizarre with charges added for everything so check your bill, no gym or pool, the food is truly terrible but there... more
