Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We were very kindly given an overnight Hotel & Spa experience as a present and were naturally looking forward to this experience. Sadly it did not live up to our expectations. On a positive note, the grounds of the property are lovely - quite sizeable and beautifully attended. The buildings in general were tastefully presented, warm and welcoming. On a different note, the room was very small and rather stuffy - even in March! Many of the items in the room were in need of some attention in order to operate effectively, particularly the safe which was absolutely useless. Thankfully we did not get any valuables locked in it as that would have totally spoilt our stay. I was led to believe that the restaurant was exceptional. Sadly this was not the case as following an adequate evening meal, I spent the night suffering from the effects of food poising emanating from the Cream of Langoustine Soup!!!! It should also be noted that although the package purchased was inclusive of dinner & breakfast, we were automatically charged additionally for service (12%)!!!! Although it is stated that this an optional charge, it will added automatically to your bill and you must request for it to be removed if you so desire. The spa itself is a lovely building and I must say the treatment that I received was excellent. It was however disappointing to find that although we took this trip in March, there were no loungers available around the pool for us to occupy. Overall, I must say that this experience was an exceedingly disappointing one and we shall not be returning to this establishment. Above all it was a barely adequate hotel & spa experience provided at grossly inflated prices. Value for money was very poor.

Highlights are; the spa outdoor heated pool, drifting around amongst the daffodils and squirrels, the food, especially homemade breads, ice-cream and god wine list, all served on beautiful crockery with natural table flowers, the dog welcome including rode, toys and a meal. We all felt fully recharged after our one night stay. Thank you! Oh and the beautiful peacock, who displayed his lovely feathers for us.

This hotel was very comfortable and cosy. The rooms are beautifully decorated, food is delicious and the staff were friendly and helpful. The spa is a real treat, especially the outside heated pool, and the treatment was excellent. Altogether a great experience.

Stayed the night in an amazing room, spacious with log burner and double bath! The spa treatment exceptional, friendly staff. Dinner was delicious as was breakfast. Following day celebrated a big Birthday with lunch for over 30 guests, again food fantastic, staff very accommodating and friendly. Thank you Luca for looking after us. Room nicely layed up. Thank you also to Nicky (Events) for all of your help in making my celebration so successful.

We’ve been going here for almost 20 years and although it’s still a very nice experience, it’s clearly getting tired and in need of a refresh. The staff (especially in the spa reception) don’t seem to be as well trained or as enthusiastic as they used to be and the decor is starting to fall apart (missing tiles and grout around the pool, flaky paint, mould etc). Hopefully once the pub’s been finished they’ll be able to invest in the hotel and spa.

Stayed for a weekend as a post Christmas treat. Have stayed before and always enjoyed it. But this time it was just excellent. Lovely room with nice fire. The restaurant was outstanding. Gorgeous food and really perfect service; relaxed, professional, and thoughtful. All the staff were attentive and had a smile on their faces. Really enjoyed it and will definitely be back.

Beautiful hotel with extremely friendly staff and lovely food including their afternoon tea which was very generous! Spa could do with a little bit of updating but treatment was fabulous. Would highly recommend the hotel and would not hesitate to return. Please spend a little money on getting the spa’s common areas up to scratch.

The hotel is amazing beautiful buildings fantastic rooms wonderful staff in hotel. The facilities for dogs amazing. Right by the beach. The spa staff need to brush up on customer service and standards but the stay was amazing despite this.
