I have stayed in this hotel on business several times in many different rooms. In most rooms the noise from the road just outside is unbearable. Then you have the constant banging of the fire doors, stomping on the timber stairs. On some visits especially late arrivals it was difficult to get a parking space. Cleanliness is a problem, especially... More

Dear Sir, I would first of all like to thank you for your review on Trip Advisor on the 3rd February 2012. I was very disappointed to read that you did not enjoy your stay with us. I have spoken with all the reception team it would seem you did not make your feelings known to us at the time... More

Tiny, single room for the same price as a double. The bed was so lumpy I ended up sleeping on the floor for most of the night - which is hard with a single duvet and little space between the bed and desk chair. I'm only 5'3" and my feet were touching the unit at the end of the bed!... More

The Birch Hotel offers you a once in a life time opportunity to relive you child hood. If you want to remember what it is like to sleep in a bed made for a ten year old. To be able to turn over the large TV at the end of your bed with your toes and the chance to soak... More

My brother held his wedding here, the food was excellent and the day went without a hitch, everyone had a lovely time. The staff were accommodating and friendly. The room was clean and airy and I had the best nights sleep in a long, long time!! My only gripe is that check out was still 11am on a Sunday...none of... More

Stayed 1 night for business purposes. 15 mins. from Gatwick Airport. My overall impression is good. Room Clean and tidy with a comfortable bed. WiFi at the Birch is complimentary, easy to hook up and works like a charm throughout the hotel both on laptop computer and phone. This is a major benefit when you travel for business from abroad... This was well placed for our purpose, close to relative's home whilst visiting area. The bedrooom was clean and functional including hair dryer, tea/coffee making facilities and flat screen TV. Bathroom had shower over bath with usual vinyl curtain. We had a drink in the main bar which was pleasant, but you pay hotel prices. It was your average hotel. More

Dear Guest, Firstly I would like to thank you for taking the time to review the Best Western The Birch Hotel on Trip Adviser. We are sorry to hear that your room overlooked the function suite and was quite noisy. However we do try as much as possible not to put non function guests into those rooms but sometimes this... This is a big fine building in a wealthy part of the country, less than 15 minutes from Gatwick airport. The hotel should be bursting at the seams with clientele. It isn't. I wonder why? Maybe it's because of the welcome you get when you arrive. After checking me in there was no mention of when or where I could... More

I stayed overnight at The Birch Hotel on business in the area and was very pleasantly surprised when I arrived. The reception staff were very friendly and efficient. The room, which was on the top floor, was spacious and well maintained. The breakfast buffet was outstanding. The food was well presented, large selection and the waiting staff where very attentive,... More

Really surprised by the reviews. The hotel is a traditional hotel, and all the rooms differ in size, which adds to the quirkeness. You can request rooms in the new wing if that is more your thing. The staff are amazing, so friendly and couldn't be more helpful. Lovely restaurant with food worthy of a 5 star. Well recommended is... More

Stayed on one of the hottest days of the year, room stifling and small though it was clean. The hotel is incredibly old fashioned in every way. The food is stodgy and uninspiring; the service pleasant but amateurish; the decor quite revolting. To be fair the bathroom was pretty good but that us the only nice thing I can find... More
