We stayed in the Police Superintendents Cottage and i have to say it was very cosy, open fire in the lounge which heated most of the cottage and heaters in every other room too. More than enough bathroom linen (which sometimes is lacking in other places i have stayed) not to mention more than one tea towel in the kitchen.... more

From our first encounter with Helen (the manageress) of this beautiful little church, I knew it was going to be an amazing 2 nights. Helen could not do enough for us. We had a MVA at Queenstown on our way through to Stahan and our vehicle was written off. She went out of her way to post notices in the... more

We stayed in the Police Superintendant's cottage (built about 1890). Beautifully restored, with lots of period furinture inside. There was even a floppy cloth rabbit in a chair in the bedroom to watch over us. Mod-cons were there too - TV/DVD/microvave etc. Location is a 5 minute walk away from the Gordon River Cruises dock. There is an IGA immediately... more

I stayed in Henty Cottage, which I think is the smallest of all the cottages on offer from Strahan Colonial Cottages. It has one bedroom with a comfy queen size bed, has a large two person bath (not spa) combined with overhead shower and a combined kitchen/lounge/dining room. I have honestly never felt more comfortable in accommodation away from home.... more

My husband were quite disappointed with Strahan and the Colonial Cottages. We spent 10 days in Tasmania and loved it, however Strahan was definitely not for us. The accommodation at $185 per night seemed very overpriced. It is a heritage cottage so we did not expect luxury, but the cottage was very small and very dark - we found it... more

Firstly the surprise at being upgraded to this cottage from the one booked and without extra charge. This Cottage was a delight in every respect. The old-world charm and history of the place - the overall facilities and comfort especially the open wood fire which was enjoyed to the full including toasted bread, something I had not experienced since childhood.... more

I stayed in The Church for two nights with my husband, the charm and quality of the building was higher than what we expected, the wood fire was burning on arrival which made us feel very welcome. The buidling had magnificant features, including church pews and balustrading, the spa was great after a day of bush walking. Overall the owners,... more

The Church was a beautiful building with lovely features such as the stained glass windows and fire but the website stated a price of $200 (and still does) and we were charged $220 when we booked it months ago. I commented to the owner that the website hadn't been updated at the time of booking and have noticed that it... more

Our first night in Tasmania was spent in the Sir John cottage, Strahan Colonial Cottages. It is an original cottage split down the centre with the Henty cottage. There are two bedrooms, the Master with a comfy Queen bed and a picturesque bay window with seat overlooking the garden and gully, the second room has two single beds with stuffed... more
