My girlfriend (soon to be fiance, I'm hoping) and I were traveling in eastern Oregon and I was looking for decent places to stay. All the hotel reviews in La Grande were relatively poor, but Northwest Best Places listed the Stange Manor as a decent place to stay so I thought we should give it a try. (Let me add, we are not Bed & Breakfast people, really kind of prefer a hotel).

I'll just say, this is a great place. Quiet location in a large home (mansion for La Grande) that has been refurbished and nicely furnished. Nothing tacky about it, very comfortable. The rooms are all upstairs and all have private bathrooms (my girlfriend would have killed me otherwise).

Ron and Carolyn are the owners and very nice people. Carolyn's breakfasts are excellent. The only thing that might have been improved was the coffee. It was OK, but not the best in town.
