We enjoy looking for lodging establishments that are family owned over hotel chains. We liked the look and history of the Oregon Hotel from what we saw online. The hotel lobby was nicely furnished and we stayed in room #2 which had a private bath, TV and John Wayne images on the wall. The bathroom didn't have a shower, but... more

This place if for real travelers who like to get away from it all. The people were friendly and the room was quiet, clean and comfortable. Honestly, the only complaint we had was the lack of a shower (tub only) and horrifically slow Internet, but it did not bother us since we were on vacation and spent minimal time in... more

I took a wonderful 10 day trip to the Pacific Northwest. Unfortunately, my one night stay at this hotel was the low point. I stayed in one of the apartments behind the hotel, which looked like it was furnished by a couple of trips to the local Goodwill. There was a slight pet odor, which I really didn't mind. The... more

We rented the "cabin" in the back of the hotel. It was a studio unit with a standard bed that sagged in the middle, a couch, and a kitchenette. There was no air conditioning! Ninety three degrees during the day in July was awful without air. Must bring your own fan. This is not a pet friendly place at all.... more

This delightful piece of serendipity is a wayfarer's haven. Comfortable, if not lavishly appointed rooms throughout, including hardwood floors,a genuine "old-timey" ambience, an inviting, shaded front porch to enjoy your continental breakfast, and a staff which bends over backwards to please. If you're a traveler who has ever entertained a notion to visit the Painted Hills (just a 20 minute... more

We just returned from our "Eastern Oregon/John Day Fossil Beds Extravaganza" trip on the 4th of June (2009). Our first destination was Mitchell Oregon and as the options were limited, we picked the Oregon Hotel and we weren't disappointed. Our options on rooms was a bit small as they already had a few reservations and I was not interested in... more

We stayed in a unit behind the main building of the hotel. It was spacious, clean, functional. It came with a very well equipped kitchen. The mattress was good. Travelers used to luxury accommodation might be disappointed. However, the hotel has come a long way since the change of ownership. The current owners are very accommodating and the hotel ends... more

The hotel is not plush and has no mod-cons, but it was a delightful place to stay. The people in the hotel and the people in general in this City - (population 170) are delightful. Take away the cars, and the business centre could be from 100 years ago. The best however is Henry the Black Bear, owner by Hugh... more

I stayed at the Oregon Hotel for two nights while on an excursion in the area. I admit I was a bit concerned after reading that 2003 review. I was pleasantly surprised with what I found. I had Room 5 and, except for the bearskin on the wall, found it to be a great room. I'm just not partial to... more

A real find. The $29.00 rooms with shared bathroom probably make this one of the cheapest options in Eastern Oregon. The top price is still only around $60.00. Every room is unique. This hotel isn't for those that like everything modern but, for those looking for character, beautiful old furnishing, an old world style, and a community atmosphere, this hotel... more
