I attend an annual conference in Portland and always stay at this hotel. The staff are top notch; friendly and helpful. The cafe and Windows lounge are very good and reasonably priced. It is in a great location with access to public transportation and secure free parking. Rooms are clean and comfortable. This hotel is an excellent value. More

This hotel is in a great location, close to the OMSI and seconds away from the tram to take you directly downtown free. Our room was clean and comfortable with everything we needed and all for a very reasonable price compared with other hotels we considered. Julian at reception was incredibly welcoming, helpful and knowledgable about the area, suggesting great... More

For the record, my actual rating for this hotel would really be a 3 1/2. It's a little better than average, but not by much. However the close proximity to the Convention Center, where I was attending a trade show, tipped it over to a 4. The hotel in general is older, and it shows. Even the huge lighted sign... More

The 'Portland Big Deal' package brought us back to the Red Lion. The package includes $50 cash at check-in, $8 credits toward breakfast, free parking, and some great coupon deals for visiting Portland (like $20 off dinner at several places). No, the property is not shiny new but our small two-queen room was clean and the staff was great. The... More

I stayed at the Red Lion as it was the overflow hotel for a conference that I was attending at the Doubletree in Portland. There was a very big difference between the hotels. The Doubletree was much newer and nicer (at least in the lobby, restuarant and conference center. That said the staff at the Red Lion were excellent. I... More

The hotel was very clean and the staff were great. For an old hotel, I was pleasantly surprised at how nice it was. The bar on the top floor had a nice view and atmosphere. The internet service was extremely slow, but that was really my only complaint. There is a train station in front of the hotel. Since the... More

I was initially disappointed when I got this hotel after a blind online bid for a 3-star place downtown. But the price and location were perfect, so off I went. The staff was very, very friendly and accommodating. (I didn't care for the first room I got and they moved me without complaint to a much better room -- no... More

I got a reduced rated via Priceline, and the location is pretty close to downtown, which was nice. The room was clean and had everything that I needed. The fitness center is pretty crappy, but I didn't expect much. If parking wasn't $12 a night, then I'd have no real complaints about this place. More

Made reservations for two rooms. Quoted $69 a night. Called to confirm and they had cancelled on reservation without authoriziation. The reissued reservation. Quoted $69 a night. Checked in and areed on 1pm checkout because we were attending seminar. Elevator was extremely slow, dirty, and lights indicating floors were burned out. Street outside Red Lion littered with garbage and trash.... More

After winning a $55 Priceline bid, I cringed after reading some of the negative reviews on TripAdvisor. The hotel is about a block from the Convention Center, which was very convenient. This was its saving grace. I was given a room on the 2nd floor by the ice machine, but didn't even notice any sounds from it other than one... More
