I stay here once or twice a year when visiting relatives who live nearby. It is an older property & wasn't built as a Holiday Inn Express so rooms are smaller than those in newer hotels. The rooms with king beds don't have much room so I reserve rooms with one or two double beds. The carpets & curtains haven't... more
We arrived at the hotel after an exciting drive from Packwood, WA, on the Interstate, delighted that it was situated at the very end of the road. We loved Portland so much and enjoyed the assistance of the people at the front desk, that we stayed an extra night. The breakfast was the usual offering so we went out to... more
Over the last few months, I've stayed at various hotels across the country. When I arrived in Portland, I went the the express inn across the street and was miffed, at myself, that I had arrived at the wrong one. Without further ado, she took care of me and sent me on my way. Being the first time in Portland,... more
Stayed at this location for one night after flying in on a late flight. The room was really small with the king sized bed in it. I stay here once or twice a year when visiting relatives in NE Portland. The rooms with the king size beds are very small - the rooms with two double beds are larger. The vanity area is small but outside the bathroom area. The bathrooms are very small but the showheads are great. The rooms now have refrigerators. I think... more
PROS: Clean (mostly...). Convenient location. Nice showerhead. CONS: Outdated exterior. No expanded cable TV. Old, low, uncomfortable beds. Iffy staff. Extremely hot water. In an effort to save money, I decided to take advantage of a $69 offer at the Holiday Inn Express on Starck. I wasn't impressed with the outdated exterior, but the lobby was nice, so I gave... more
This place was excellent. I travel to Portland 3-5 times a year. In the past I use to stay at different hotels, but a year ago I started staying at this particular Holiday Inn Express. Their service is excellent. I can't say I have met a friendlier hotel staff in Portland. Talk about the restaurant selection nearby. I never had... more
Pretty small rooms and over priced I felt. The free breakfast could have been better. more
