Well located if you can penetrate the Portland one way traffic systems! Very close to excellent free public transport so you don't need your car in the city. 3 night package included valet parking. All staff friendly & helpful. Room adequate with all mod cons but not very big. Wi-Fi worked fine! Very good value for money. In hotel Italian... more

This is an elegant hotel near Portland State University and the MAX line to downtown. I read reviews to select the hotel and was not disappointed. My room (single with king bed) wasn't big, but it was very comfortable. Breakfast (french toast) was outstanding. Service was excellent. I stopped by the front desk a few times to ask for directions... more

From the outside the hotel looks like it could be a low-rent motel. But the inside is much nicer. Though on the small side, the rooms are very modern/chic and have everything you need--closet, full bath, big bed, HDTV. One complaint--the TV had only 30 channels. The bed was very comfortable with a variety of pillow types. The attached restaurant... more

Sleek, modern, safe, clean -- and even my snobby, picky wife loves this place. First the big "con." If you want to be in the midst of the downtown action, the Modera is a bit off-center. It's located on the south edge of downtown, which is a very nice area and adjacent to Portland State University. But, the downtown action,... more

We've stayed here twice before and it keeps getting better. The new restaurant is good...the service is excellent...bar is nice to have on site. I can only comment on breakfast and brunch...both were good. We also spent one evening before dinner around the fires outside drinking wine...very nice even on a cool October evening. The staff at the front desk... more

I believe this joint used to be a Days Inn. I think I stayed here years ago (am I dating myself?). If you look at the basic lines of the place from the outside, you can definitely see how this could be a 60's or 70's low-rise urban motel/hotel ... but the transformation of this place has taken it into... more

From the outside, the Modera is unremarkable. But once you walk in, you know someone has put some thought into making this a hotel that fits with its Portland environment. The lobby is sparse but hip. The attentive staff will immediately open the large glass doors to the outside garden if you head that way. It's hard to describe the... more

The prices I saw quoted in a guide book for this hotel were pretty extortionate but I booked direct with the hotel online and got a really good deal as a pre-booked rate so it's worth checking out. The room wasn't the biggest I've ever stayed in, in the US but it was really stylish and well equipped. It is... more

We stayed at Hotel Modera in June for one night and would easily stay there again. Nice, clean, comfortable hotel with friendly staff, good restaurant and a lot of style. Similarly priced or less-expensive than most other hotels we looked at, and we were very happy with our choice. Have already recommended it to friends! more

Found the Hotel Modera over the web and made a reservation to stay there. I spent 4 nights and found it to be an excellent place. According to friends in Portland it used to be a Days Inn (or something like that) but has been redone as a boutique hotel. The decor is nice, the staff is very friendly, I... more
