Stayed for one night on a road trip through Washington and Oregon. this hostel is in a great location, in the funky Hawthorne neighborhood with great restaraunts and shops. Had fun and met lots of cool travellers from all over the world! The common area is full of books and resources for travel in the area. more

If you simply need to sleep, not shower or use the bathroom, this hostel is fine. BUT, it is incredibly dirty. There was pizza in the bathroom, the water didnt drain out of the shower and they were talking about the mice problem while I was there. I stayed 2 nights but left early-- and believe me, I am far... more

This was the very first hostel WITHIN the U.S. that I stayed at on recommendation of a friend and it did not disappoint at all. The hostel itself is situated within a larger, older style home. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful and the onsite dog was a good companion reminding me of my own two dogs waiting for... more

This was the cutest, homiest hostel I've ever stayed at! It felt like I was staying at a friends' house. It was conveniently located near shopping and public transport. I LOVED it and would go back to Portland to stay in it again! more

Hawthorne is a cool small town with a reasonable number of shops, bars and cafes/restaurants and it is a shame the hostel was so poor. I am not really... more

Great hostel. Very homey and safe. Loved the location. Easy to get to by bus from downtown. Cute district - cruise down the street for great shops, pubs and coffee. Portland is so friendly and this hostel is great! more

Nice hostel in a big house with friendly staff. Big seats next to the bunks, big segregated bathrooms and nice big kitchen. I do a lot of sightseeing so I'm not one to hang out too much, but there is a very friendly crowd going thru the hostel, but never rowdy. The lockers were located in the back but very... more

As far as hostels go, this one is above average for price and location. Definitely felt safe there, well I felt that way in all of Portland actually. The people were very nice hippie nouveau types, and the place is conveniently located right on the bus line into the city. Good Bohemian fun. The hostel is in the Hawthorne district,... more
