Steve and Dusty have obviously put their heart and souls into this place. Everywhere you turn you see little details of this: like the meticulously detailed furnishings, some in the Victorian style, some just fun (like the little soaps in the shape of a lion and a rose). Breakfasts were spectacular - every day we were there (4) there was... more

Loved this B&B. Beautifully furnished and decorated in Victorian style, very comfortable, spacious rooms, all amenities, and wonderful breakfasts. All guests meet at 8:30 AM (9 on Sunday) for breakfast, and sit at one large table. This atmosphere creates a congeniality I have not seen often in other B&Bs. We shared stories, sightseeing tips, and just plain good conversation with... more

Victorian opulence - inside and out! Great porches and back patio with gazebo...Beds were extremely comfortable. Breakfast was varied and delicious! Homebaked breakfast breads, fresh fruit every day plus well coordinated breakfast buffet items. Exceptional gourmet delights! We appreciated the "welcome to the kitchen " atmosphere 24/7hours to get refreshments, snacks and bottled water / beverages as we headed off... more

On our first trip to Portland, we were pleasantly surprised by the wonder of this beautiful B&B. It was comfortable and cozy. The hosts were away, but the caretaker was very attentive and helped us navigate the city. We had the turret room, and it did not disappoint! The furnishings were cozy and authentic. If they weren't genuine antiques, they... more

Innkeepers, Steve and Dusty know exactly how to make a traveller feel right at home. Walking through the door is like walking back into the early part of the 20th Century. The inn itself is beautiful and the antique furnishings are splendid. After a long day at a conference, returning to a jacuzzi bath with the scent of wisteria from... more

I came to Portland for a conference and wanted accommodations that would nurture my soul rather than suck it dry. Wow, did I ever find what I was looking for in the Lion and the Rose! All the comforts of home, in a lovely neighborhood with great restaurants so nearby. And much closer to the convention center than the downtown... more

My partner surprised me with a stay at the Lion and the Rose for my 40th Birthday. We live in Portland and have driven by this lovely mansion and dreamed of one day taking the time to stay here. What a pleasure this stay was, our hosts were warm, knowledgeable and amazing breakfast chefs! The B&B is gorgeous, the rooms... more

The location, service, innkeepers and house could not have been more perfect. We used public transportation and got everywhere easily. The neighborhood had great restaurants (Milo's was fantastic), theares, a mall and is a easy train to downtown in the free district. We bought 7 day transit passes but didn't need them. The breakfasts were awesome, the jacuzzi in the... more

My wife and I stayed at the Lion/Rose over Valentine's Day weekend. This beautiful 1906 home, which is a hybrid of the Craftsman and Victorian styles, is one of the most aesthetically pleasing I've ever laid eyes upon. It is furnished with period correct furnitureand decor and made me feel as if ihad traveled in time. The sleep number king... more
