Musty, moldy and dusty. The air in the whole place made me asthmatic and sick. They also decided to start renovations. Just made the whole place even worse. The health department should shut the place down until they can clean the air and replace all the moldy rugs. Don't stay here!

My husband booked us a night at The Governor as a romantic stay in Portland. We had a lovely dinner downstairs at the restaurant and then coffee in the Starbucks in the morning. I was especially impressed with the hotel room bathroom - size was amazing and the decorating was simple but elegant.

"Quiet elegance" is their motto, and that's what they are, there is no "wow" factor in the 1910 building. The wow factor is the staff: Friendly, helpful, professional and personable. The tile in the bathroom was dirty, there were stains on the chair next to the bed and there was only 1 packet of sugar for coffee in the morning even though there were two guest registered for the room.
