My husband and I like to have "romantic getaways" in the very City in which we live...so we chose Portland's White House for a Friday night! EVERYTHING was perfect! The ambiance, flexibility of check-in time, location.... The owner (Lanning) was so helpful, accommodating, charming, not to mention a GREAT cook and "host!" The LARGE, delectable cookies that awaited us in... More

For my wife's birthday we stayed at the Portland White House and this is the penultimate in B&Bs. The house is luxurious and gorgeous inside and out and the hosts put on a breakfast feast that was fantastic. I had been in touch with them several times over the preceding weeks to tailor the visit specifically to my wife's tastes... More

Wow! What a wonderful location, building and service. We stayed two nights around Thanksgiving and could not have enjoyed ourselves more. This place is extremely historic and has that B&B east-coast feel to it. Kim and Steve are the most marvelous hosts and cook up a terrific breakfast. I read that someone wrote a review that their room was small???... More

We stayed four nights at the Portland's White House during the month of July. The on-site hosts welcomed us warmly even though we arrived at the door steps a few hours earlier than planned. Since we were not planning to spend much time in our room, we reserved the Blarney Suite. Cautionary note: the web site says small; I say... More

We stayed here last year while visiting family. This is a restored bed-and-breakfast, though it has a somewhat greater number of rooms than the typical BB. The building is a Victorian mansion that was built to resemble the White House. It sort of does, from the outside. The real fun is on the inside, which is elegant, packed with interesting... More

We were getting ready to book the Nines but I got an offer from BMW saying they would pay for the third night of any stay at a Registry hotel. Well, thank you BMW because I may not have visited without that and I'm so glad I did. We arrived slightly frazzled at 11:00 after our flight from Maui. Steven... More

The Portland White House B&B was a very enjoyable place to stay. The food was excellent, as was the morning coffee. The cookies and chocolates left in the room were an added treat. It was within walking distance of restaurants in a residential neighborhood. Kim and Steve, our hosts, were very nice and accommodating. It was an easy drive to... More

The PWH did a very nice job servicing my 3-day 25 person business meeting. Three persons also stayed on-site. The three team members who stayed on site were very pleased with the accommodations. I wish more of our out-of-town colleagues could have stayed at the PWH. The ballroom was a good venuw for a business meeting and the PWH had... More

Beautiful old and stately residence in the heart of Portland with lovely furnishings and an interesting owner collected china and porcelin collection. Tours of the house are offered to the public but none was offered to us as guests. We had many questions about the property but the innkeeoers seemed preoccupied with other things including a dinner party for their... More
