We spent two nights here as part of an anniversary trip, and enjoyed it much more than the B&B in Joseph (which was twice the price). Bill and Peggy are the ones who built Cornucopia Lodge three years ago, and their pride of ownership shows in the quality decor and furnishings and in the immaculate housekeeping. The location of the lodge is picturesque and relaxing (crags, trees and creek outside your door), although it is 12 miles from the nearest town (Halfway).

Local dining options are limited, especially on weekdays, so we had all our meals at the lodge. (The locals sometimes make reservations for their special dinners there.) Don't count on a low-carb option, but Bill's well-cooked homestyle meals and Peggy's desserts were more than adequate in serving size and taste. Everyone was friendly, helpful and accommodating, including us for the family-style dinner when we arrived early and arranging a trail ride with the encouraging, PATIENT horse crew on short notice...

After 4 amazing days of riding and relaxing at this lodge I had to recommend it to anyone looking for a great wilderness/riding experience. Located in the eagle cap wilderness area of Eastern Oregon it offers great access to amazing country. Wonderful home cooked food (The fried chicken was awesome) and staff that make you feel part of the family made it one of the best places I have stayed. Fromt eh very beginning they did a great job helping us determine what would work best for my family and went to great lengths to even enclude our 18 month old son on the wilderness rides. The rates are reasonable and include 3 meals a day. The cabins were secluded and private with great views and still had all the conforts of home. except the annoying ones like a phone and TV. The trail guides are knowledgable and very friendly, the horses were well trained and easy to handle. I highly recommend it to anyone if you want to have some amazing fun and experiences.
