We stayed in the Coach House, which is a Standard room and I have to say that for a Standard room It was very comfortable compared with some 3* hotels we have visited over the years. It is true to say that they are not particularly big, but we thought that the furnishings and decor were lovely and the bathroom... more

Review of Old Bell Hotel, Malmesbury October, 2008 I stayed at the Old Bell Inn for two nights, and overall had an enjoyable stay. The hotel is a charming, historic hotel and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The meals were elegantly prepared and very tasty. Dinner on the first night was somewhat spoiled by the presence of a... more

The hotels website seems to suggest a snug boutique style country hotel. They only had standard rooms available so i booked one for the weekend. Pretty expensive but it must be at least pretty good mustnt it? As the other review i just read said, shocking is right! The small room had a damp musty smell, caused by a bad... more

I stayed at The Old Bell for 2 nights and was very disappointed with the room. We opted for the standard room at £135 a night, and I was shocked by the room we were given. Tiny stuffy box room - barely enough room for the suitcases. And to match a tiny bathroom - not particularly clean and a little... more

We booked for a one night stay whilst passing through wiltshire. the hotel is right next to Malmesbury Abbey, and the two make a picture perfect scene. The hotel is lovely. we didn`t make use of the cosy lounges as the sun was out on the patio and garden at the back of the hotel - very peaceful!! The food... more

We recently spent two nights at this hotel. Of the 4 hotels we visited during our trip in the English countryside, this was the wild card that had me worried. We were pleasantly surprised with the Old Bell -- and would return again. We arrived late in the evening and were promptly delivered to our room. Upon arriving at the... more

We had a very disappointing first time visit to this hotel two weekends ago on account of the fact that we were put into a room with minimal soundproofing directly above their function room. The result was our planned relaxing quiet weekend break in the country was in fact a stressed and sleepless saturday night followed by a day when... more

Management response from
Geronihmo, Manager

The night porter was called at 2.30am by the guest and made aware that the he was being disturbed by a small group sitting in the lounge below. The group were immediately moved . On checkout the duty manager felt it appropriate to reduce the accommodation bill by 25% from the offer price of £99 ( bed and breakfast for...

I got a great last minute deal with the hotel for about £80 bed and breakfast with an upgraded room. The hotel is located just next to the Abbey and has been recently rennovated and does not fail to impress. The communal areas are tastefully decorated as are the rooms which have a boutique hotel feel. I stayed in a... more

We booked The Old Bell after checking out the reviews on this site and it exceeding our expectations. We spent three nights on a DBB deal and took our 16 month old son. On our arrival we had been upgraded to a premium room in the original building and a travel cot had been set up and made ready for... more
