We booked a one night stay via "Trip-Advisor" and had a great mid-week rate of £45 for a double room in the "Beeches" annex at the rear of the property. We arrived at the Ivy House Hotel one evening to the over-whelming smell of fish in the foyer. When we reached the check-in desk it was obvious from the dirty plate and cutlery left on the counter top to the side of us that this was source of the smell, and given half a chance we would have left then.... more

This place was great a few years ago but has gradually gone downhill. Now it's hit rock bottom. It's not particularly clean and the service is awful. After our last (I do mean last) visit I wrote to the general manager with comments but did not have a reply. more

This was the third time we stayed at Ivy House Hotel. Marlborough is a charming town with lots of restaurants and shops. Only 8 miles from Avebury and about 20 miles from Stonehenge.
