The hotel was lovely in keeping with Marlborough high street. The hotel has a lot of history behind it. We found it to be tidy - yes some areas look a little tired but it should be expected in such and old building. The current owner has refurbished parts of this hotels which you can clearly see and I am... more

We booked a one night stay via "Trip-Advisor" and had a great mid-week rate of £45 for a double room in the "Beeches" annex at the rear of the property. The room was a good size and very quiet at night. The rear car-park was fairly spacious and enabled easy access to the "Beeches" accommodation with luggage etc.. The faciliies... more

We arrived at the Ivy House Hotel one evening to the over-whelming smell of fish in the foyer. When we reached the check-in desk it was obvious from the dirty plate and cutlery left on the counter top to the side of us that this was source of the smell, and given half a chance we would have left then.... more

My main gripe was that there was no restaurant and this was not made clear. Travelling with my disabled mother I had chosen somewhere with this facility. It was not mentioned when we checked in, or when we asked if we could have a table,(the implication was that it was closed one night only), and we were told there are... more

This place was great a few years ago but has gradually gone downhill. Now it's hit rock bottom. It's not particularly clean and the service is awful. After our last (I do mean last) visit I wrote to the general manager with comments but did not have a reply. more

Expecting a nice old characterful inn, modernised, from the web advert and booking, what we got for our “refurbished luxury room” was basically a box-like US-style motel room with oppressively low ceilings backing onto a noisy carpark. Someone had glued some crown moulding up to make it look posh, but the room was unredeemably shabby with battered furniture, the curtains... more

This was the third time we stayed at Ivy House Hotel. Marlborough is a charming town with lots of restaurants and shops. Only 8 miles from Avebury and about 20 miles from Stonehenge. Ivy House has an excellent restaurant and the reception desk staff are very cordial and welcoming. Offstreet parking is behind the hotel. We do plan to stay... more
