If you want mass produced standardised chicken nuggets, burgers... then this is not for you. If you enjoy something different that has a local flavour then this is excellent. more

The Talbot is just the kind of hotel /pub/restaurant that we like to find, and came highly recommended by friends who like the same kinds of places. It's a friendly, family run business in a beautiful rural setting, with spacious outdoor areas, riverside car parking and grassy riverbanks to enjoy in good weather. The rooms are unfussy and comfortable, and... more

We stayed for one night, a Saturday. We were advised in advance that our room was over the bar and that there would be music from the bar until about midnight, but that the room was £10 cheaper than others because of that (still £80!). We thought that noise until midnight on a Saturday was fair enough, but having returned... more

We booked a table for six to celebrate our brothers 64th Birthday. The menu was very limited, the waitress was inattentive, the food was bad to say the least. I ordered the Parsons nose sausages, egg and chips. The sausages were as tough as old leather, chips tasted like pap and the egg was disgusting. It wasn't fried properly so... more

We spent a weekend with friends at The Talbot in February. Having struggled through the snow to get there it was most pleasant to all sit round a roaring log fire chatting over drinks while we all arrived. The men certainly enjoyed trying out the beers 'This', 'That' and 'The Other'. It was generally agreed that they all liked 'That'... more

I have been to the Talbot 3 times now, the main reason I keep going back is the food. I disagree with the comment below about it being expensive - £65 dinner, bed and breakfast was a steal for a Saturday night. Most of the food is locally sourced and although a small menu is of extremely good quality, the... more

Based on the hotel's web site we expected an upmarket country hotel and were promised that our (well behaved) children would be very welcome. The rooms were small and in need of renovation, nothing like the big bed and fireplace that features on the website. Some new bedding would not go amiss, and surely in this day and age. Service... more

we stayed at the Talbot on a perfect summer evening- the roon was adequate- a bit small but we booked last minute, but the ffod was excellent- amybe a little on the expensive side but worth it. One critism we had was that we ordered an extra bowl of chips for £2.00 and about 15 chips arrived- so watch out... more
