The Swan Inn is reached by driving south from Hungerford which is near the M4 motorway. There is considerable driving on narrow country highways but the Inn is worth a visit and a stay. There are 10 or so rooms, a pub with a restaurant and an organic produce grocery on the site. They grow and process their own animals... more

I found the Swan via a web-search when I was just looking for a real ale pubs in and around Newbury, Thatcham and Hungerford. It is a sprawling place with all of the proper country pub bit and pieces, low beams, open fireplaces, friendly locals (including one or two eccentrics), a good hearty pub-food menu and a decent range of... more
