This beautiful hotel is the perfect retreat and base from which to explore stunning scenery and sights of Cornwall. The welcome was friendly, food excellent and the rooms well appointed. more

this is just the hotel for that cornish way of living ,the scenery and location is splendid the hosts superb and the food how it should be PERFECT. you are close enough to plymouth for city shopping and far enough away for the country life and beaches a short distance away,so i would reccommend anyone to come and stay here... more

Was going to post this review earlier but totally forgot. On arrival at the Hotel, welcome was friendly and first impressions were good. The room we stayed in was spacious and very comfortable, however there were a few things around the hotel that required improvement. Our room needed cleaning, painting and the damp smell in wardrobe needs addressing. Add to this... more

We stayed at Friary Manor in July this year for a long weekend - meant to post this review much earlier but somehow have only just got round to it. The hotel is a small, family run hotel in a beautiful setting on the coastal path. Unfortunately we only had one day to explore as the weather was rainy most... more

18 July 2008 - attended a wedding reception at the hotel. The meal was delicious and the venue was ideal for a small wedding party. Three couples (including the bride and groom) stayed the night. Our room was slightly dated and not cleaned to the highest of standards. Unfortunately someone had turned off the hot water in our room and... more

The entire experience of our stay at this 'hotel' was rather unpleasant. Upon arrival we were shown to the 'family suite' as were sharing with a friend and baby. The room was very dated, covered in cobwebs and dirty, incuding a rather dodgy looking stain on the sheets. The shared bathroom was cramped and dirty, with no shower and limited... more

We were only there one night but this is a decent hotel for a short stay. I would really give this a 3.5 rating. Good Points: . Really nice room (we were in Room 1) in nice neutral colours, plenty of space, comfy bed. . Fairly easy to find. . Nice views . Lunch was good (we both had Ploughmans... more

We recently spent three lovely days staying at the Friary Manor Hotel. We were greeted warmly by both the owner and Wilbur the hotel cat. The hotel situation is superb, it is set in lovely grounds and is very peaceful. Breakfasts were excellent served with abundant local produce. Sadly we didn't sample the evening meals, too many pasties to late... more

Although we had visited Cornwall many times in the past we had never been to this corner - the Rame Peninsular. What a find! A great place to explore some lovely beaches and scenery, walks along the cliffs (the hotel is right next to the coastal path), gardens and country houses, and within easy reach of Plymouth via the car... more
