Despite still having my printed booking details which say 'ensuite shower room' the owner insists that the internet clearly says that for some rooms the toilet facilities are shared. Not only were they shared, but they were up some stairs and along the corridor! I telephoned the place before making my booking and specifically asked about the suitability of the... More

Had a great time staying here. The owners were fantastic and could not have been more friendly and accommodating. The locals were so friendly and totally made us feel at home. The room was clean and had all that we needed. We ate here and were very impressed with the standard of the food. We chose to stay here due... More

The room was very large and bright as promised, and the en-suite bathroom as well, with a large shower. Breakfast was the highlight of the place, with a nice lady offering a variety of choices every morning, both for cooked and uncooked breakfast. The place is also a pub, with a nice garden at the back and a beautiful white... More

stayed here because it was handy for the Eden Project and Heligan. No St Austell is not the most attractive place in the world, but The Duke of Cornwall is what it says-a pub with b&b.The hosts are very welcoming, eager to please and very knowledgable about the local area- and the food is great! Debbie is a keen gardener and has made... More

The Duke of Cornwall has a lot in common with St Austell itself....... primarily that they should both be given an extremely wide berth. Having just spent a couple of weeks touring Cornwall, staying in fantastic places like Falmouth, St Ives and Padstow, it's hard to fathom why anyone in their right mind would want to go come here. I... More

Unfortunately we must have turned up on an off night, after reading the lunch menu and walking back miles in the evening the waitress informed us the carvery wasn't available on Sunday's, in fact she would check, but there was no food at all. The pub was dark, very noisy (with only two other people in there) and 2 lots... More

If you are a tourist in the St Austell area I would say you don't want to stay here. Go a few miles further towards the coast and stay in Charlestown, it is a million times nicer. The Duke of Cornwall is in a run down street, lots of boarded up shops etc near by, and the pub itself is... More

When we booked I knew that we would not have an ensuite (which we normally do when staying away from home). I have to say we will ensure that we do have an ensuite in future - my DH did not like having to use the shared toilet. The room itself was ok but the tv was hard to work.... More

The room was spotless, the staff couldn't be friendlier and the breakfast was good. Overall a very good value for money. Oh - The bed was one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in!!

Taking my mother on a five day trip to Cornwall could have been difficult - she's 87. However, the day we left I hurt my back and it was me who was a problem for the whole trip. Luckily, I'd booked us into the Duke of Cornwall Pub. I did this because I wanted not to have to take her... More
