You would do better to pitch a tent in your own back garden and pay your neighbours for the privilege Our room at HCL resembled a converted garage, and not the 5 star gold luxury accommodation advertised on their website. When paying in excess of £240 per night the least you would expect would be a friendly welcome, however on... more

We were a little concerned before travelling after reading some of the negative reviews on this site about Highland Court and were hoping that the more positive reviews placed on late rooms were more accurate. On arrival we relaxed. The room was great with flatscreen and outside ground level space, and the bathroom was huge. We particularily enjoyed the spa... more

We found the proprietors very freindly and welcoming. The rooms were large and very clean. Great jacuzzi bath which the children loved. The lodge was very accomodating to our two young children (four and a half years and eleven months) as all the other guests were couples. Amazeing breakfasts. Highlight of our stay. Two comments: 1. Four night stay for... more

In response to the the review from arthurgee_9, our reception was 'we can leave our bags in the room but will have to leave as check-in is at 4pm, this is my business and thats how i like to run it', we arrived at 1pm, and left shortly after. We did miss breakfast on the second morning, breakfast is served... more

I booked 3 nights for our Honeymoon in a Premier / Deluxe room and I have to be perfectly honest and say that I was dissapointed. I didn't actually realise until we got there that it was in fact a glorified B & B that is charging Hotel prices. I personally feel that £170 a night is very much overpriced... more

To say that this review is a little unfair is an understatement. There are a number of factors that the writer has obviously not considered before writing their review. We are not a "glorified B & B", but 5 star gold rated guest accommodation, one of only 2 in Cornwall. These awards are not handed out life confetti; they have...

We came to HCL on a whim. Having been married on the Saturday we decided to spend a few nights in Cornwall, using the visit Cornwall tourist web portal. In many respects it was a good thing that we did not check the venue against the reviews on here before booking as I would have been put off. Yes, the... more

Stayed here in August 2008 - booked it after been tantalised by the web site thinking that I would be stepping into paradise. The owners are rude and very unhelpful. The accommodation is nicely decorated but nothing more than you would expect from a basic bed and breakfast. The place is miles from anywhere and there is nothing to do... more

I am a little unsure why this review has been written 10 months after their stay. Our chambermaid had to experience the following during these guests stay:- Soaking wet wetsuits hung up in the bathroom to drip all over the floor. The spa bath was covered in huge amounts of beach sand and surf boards, yes, surf boards!. This caused...

I have stayed at hotels all over the world. This is by far the most misleading, overpriced and falsely advertised facility I have ever been in. It is advertised and sold as a spa. Yet no facilities exist that you would expect from a spa. Other than (if you pay the highest price) a small jaccuzzi. My partner and I... more

Monstrous - this is the word I would use to sum up our experience at the Highland Court Lodge. Both my wife and I are shocked and incensed by the way we have been treated, and I want to share the details with fellow travellers. Below are the straight facts of our stay - and I promise that it is... more

The writer is a very clever and calculated individual. Mr E stayed with us in May 2007 and has only just decided to write the review, although in this period he has written 2 other over the top stunning reviews that are obviously for our benefit. He had not written one before staying with us. There are a couple of...
