The bad: we were allocated a tiny room, stains on the carpet, musty smell, one small window view of a roof (I understand many rooms have sea-front views) and v tired decoration. If only their web site showed the rooms that were not refurbished..... What a shame, the room that we stayed in was circa 1978 including a mini TV in the room. Some dirt on the walls. However, the staff were very helpful and professional. If you want to stay here ask for a refurbished room..... more

My wife and I spent 2 nights in Rm 28 which is in a separate annex of the building. It was very quiet and you could see the sea from every window. Reservation: The hotel's website was well designed and all rooms were given a brief but helpful description. you can book online but you won't be able to choose the superior rooms or receive any special offers. We called the hotel directly and were told that we would receive a 20% discount for the weekend. All rooms with seaview were taken... more

We stayed for five nights and enjoyed our stay. The service was friendly and helpful. We ate one night in the restaurant and enjoyed our meal. Breakfasts were always good. We also ate in the bistro, which is attached to the hotel and had two good meals. We didn't try the Harbourside Inn, which is owned by the Pier House... more

A great hotel - lovely refurbished room - looked as if we were the first people in it. Must be due for an extra star once the refurb is finished. Super location right on the Charlestown Harbour - ask for a sea view room. Great sunrises from the harbour wall. Pretty bedspread and curtains and comfy bed and pillows. Enough... more
