This place was advertised as a resort and though expectations were not that great...what I did expect was a quiet, safe place to stay for the night. Room was ok, Resort was rundown, and the over night experience was a nightmare. What we encountered was: Overall we were very disappointed with our stay at El Lago Resort. It would be more accurate to call it a Motel, not ‘resort. Their website is also very misleading, with the homepage giving the impression the ‘resort’ is on the sand spit, it is in fact quite a distance away. They refer to ‘Lake view... more

Where to start?? On the website for this resort it says peaceful!! That is if you find staying under the highway listening to all the noisy traffic all night long peacefull. This is not a resort more like a 0.5 star MOTEL. Rooms are unclean and of a very poor standard not worth the $200 per night. Enjoy a swim... more

Stayed here for 2 nights over the weekend. The room was nice with a modern look and included a bar fridge and reverse cycle AC. It was located on the second floor in a far corner meaning four flights of stairs and three long corridors to get there. People with mobility issues should request a more accessible room.
