OK, after reading the horror stories on here, I guess I just have much lower expectations than most. I tried real hard to find "peeling wallpaper" - does a curled wallpaper seam count? "Thin towels" - I guess I can't shower at my home, 'cause we have some towels in the same condition. "Missing grout" - not in my bath,... more

What an absolutely horrible place to stay. Overpriced. (they claimed it was for football weekend...did not take AAA discounts -- great, an excuse to overcharge !!) Poor service, small rooms, terrible mattresses, thin towels, no movies, wallpaper peeling off the walls, mold in bathroom, grouting missing in bathroom, could hear the guy next door taking a leak through the wall,... more

For me the place was adequate for a bed and a shower - that's all I needed. I agree with most of the previous negative reviews but maybe not with their passion. If I had paid full rate or went there as part of a package I probably would be enraged. Instead, I hit priceline for $35 and only need... more

The stage is set on arrival when you see the paint is peeling on the entryway door. As you head to your room you see threadbare carpets and peeling wallpaper in the halls. You pass a circa 1960 ice machine that makes noise like an airliner. You enter your room and the letdown is complete. It was last decorated in... more

From the time we arrived we we greeted warmly. The room was very clean, and spacious. Panoramic views of the amazing golf course was delightful, and relaxing. This is not your modern 2009 hotel, but that is what makes this hotel special. The classic style building type is completely wonderful. If you a looking for a hotel that has that... more

I stayed at the "resort" with a former college roommate for Arts Fest weekend, we booked the room because of the outdoor pool. We were able to check in early (bonus) but the hotel itself is very neglected and dingy. Our room had trash in it, a dirty coffee maker, a dirty 1950's bathroom and lacked a refrigerator which my... more

....unless you have no sense of sight, smell, or touch. This was unbelievably bad and that's coming from someone who got the room for only $35 on priceline. I expected a 2 star chain hotel...not one that was constructed a century ago and left to rot. For starters, it smelled SO bad of must and mildew that even the 3... more

I got this hotel after bidding on priceline. The corridors leading up to the rooms were a little dusty and smelled of smoke. The room itself smelled a little, but wasn't as dirty as the other reviewers have reported. The bathroom was reasonably clean and the beds were clean as well. There was free internet, which was quite useful. For... more

We stayed at Toftrees after a football game. It was an 8:00 pm game and we were informed that we couldn't check in until after midnight. We had to book 2 rooms and we had asked for adjoining rooms and a cot and were told that we would have to ask at checkin. At check-in, we could not get adjoining... more

I was very disappointed inToftrees. If management maintained the rooms as well as they maintained the golf course, it could be a nice resort. But they clearly do not. Our room was dated and needed a good cleaning and had a dmap smell. The bathroom floor was visibly dirty; the counter was dingy, and upon checking in I found blond... more
