We stayed in Dodge Cottage one of the sister properties, the room was good , spacious and comfortable. The downside was finding a half eaten takaway in the fridge from the previous guests and later in the evening finding the bed linen had not been changed for fresh. The bed was made but the sheets under the top cover were... more

This is Block Island. Luxury hotels do not exist here. When you visit BI you know that, unless you stay for at least a week and rent a house, you will probably compromise a bit on lodging. You will pay a lot for a little. But, for some, just being on the island is what we are after. My husband... more

After many years of coming to Block Island, we can honestly say that our stay at the 1661 Inn was not only our worst experience on Block Island, but the worst stay we have ever had in any inn or hotel. There are many comments we could make about the outdated furnishings and the paper-thin walls, but we will cut... more

We have lived in Connecticut for 24 years but this was our first visit to Block Island. Block Island is avery nice place for a few day couples or family getaway. Activiteis include biking and all water activities. No golf courses or casinos and virtually no night life.... exactly what we wanted! We went by passenger ferry from New London,... more

I had been trying to get to Block Island for years - always chose another site for no apparent reason. Now, after getting away for a night - I need to make this a regular stop on my travel circuit. The trip was easy on the high-speed was great - 30 minutes. We walked to the Hotel from the ferry... more

I read all the reviews on here for B&Bs on BI before booking at the 1661 Inn. We have never stayed at a B&B before and were looking for a romantic getaway. We stayed in the Staples room and was able to negiotate the price down because our stay was between low and high season. Our room was everything it... more

We stayed in the 1661 house/Ball room. While the view was beautiful, our room was less than desirable. The furniture was outdated (I'm not referring to antiques here) and the bathroom is horrendous! It looked like it was last updated in the 1970s. Our room had no window screens so we were forced to sleep with the windows wide open.... more

This was a typical New England Inn and it was exactly what we expected. The hotel is located just steps from the Ferry in Old Harbor. We stayed in the Palmetto room and it was clean and comfortable. The wine and cheese and champagne breakfast were all served at the 1661, which is about 40 yards down the street. The... more

Right from the start, I knew our 2-night stay in the Alice May Room in Dodge Cottage (part of the Manisses Hotel and 1661 Inn) was going to be a good one. Loreen at the front desk was so nice on the phone...she told me about the new September specials and helped me select a room. Upon arrival in Block... more

I recently read some reviews and was saddened by the negative feedback. My family and I have stayed at the 1661 Inn (including the Dodge Cottage for the past 3 years now and we've had great experiences. We go in the off season when the island is less busy and the staff is always pleasant and helpful and our rooms... more
