if you like the thrill of spending the night in a b&b that could very well be haunted this is the place for you! feelings of cold sensations in the bathroom and also doorknobs rattling in the night. had to take the creepy stoic pictures off the bedroom walls before going to sleep because it was an unsettling feeling as... more

we had a girls weekend at the hygiea house. we had two rooms and were each upgraded to a suite which was very nice. Jill (the only saving grace of the place) brought our bags up to our two rooms. i couldnt not believe how filthy the carpets were. then I thought, well it *is* the end of the season.... more

Previous to my first stay at Hygeia House, everytime I passed by there I said to myself "One day I'm going to stay there". So one year I called and made a reservation and have stayed there ever since. I believe it's been 5 years now. I won't stay anywhere else unless of course they are booked. The atmosphere is... more

We visited the Hygiea in October- the room was cozy and comfortable and breakfast was nice and relaxed. It's a nice walk into town and someday it would be great to go back in the summer and sit on the porch! It's a cool historic building with nice water views from the front. more

I have been visiting the Island for many years and I have found my most enjoyable stay during my last visit to the Hygeia House. I have been to the Hygeia House before and enjoyed it immensely but this recent stay has gone above and beyond my expectations. They have a wonderful new manager named Jill who has truly made... more

After visiting the island for more than 20 years, I can finally say that I have finally found an inn that I will return too time and time again. This inn is perfectly located between the beaches, town and the bluffs. Lisa and Champ, the owners, made us feel welcome immediately. The rooms are nicely sized with all of the... more

My fiance and I recently stayed in this "B&B" for two evenings. In short, the room was smaller than most bathrooms and included a multi-colored brown stain about a foot in diameter on the ceiling directly above the bed. Speaking of the bed, it was a double that was pushed up against the wall, so you could only access it... more

My husband booked this place before consulting trip advisor. Big mistake! This place was GROSS. Disgusting stained carpet. Thread-bare twin hide-a-beds that gave our kids terrible back aches. No blinds on the bedroom window, so anyone wandering past our room could take a peek in and see us in bed. Thick long black hairs on the bedspread. Pillows flat, lumpy,... more

We have been to Block Island many times and have been staying at the Hygeia House quite a few times. It is a well re-furbished Victorian inn. It is very homey and not pretentious at all. Our rooms (a double bed in one with a day bed in a sitting area and private bath) were clean, sheets were crisp and... more

Upon our arrival at the Hygeia House on Friday we were greeted by NOBODY! All we found was an unlocked front door leading to a slightly ajar bedroom door. Let me tell you, that door had no business being open....the room was a mess....junk and clothing strewn about.....but wait.....the kitchen was even worse...dirty pots and pans and general disorder all... more
