We recently stayed at the 1837 B&B for a 4-day weekend, since we were attending a wedding in Charleston. Four other friends joined us a well. The B&B proved to be the right choice. Our room was spacious, charming and clean. There was teat every afternoon and goodies served with the tea. Breakfast every morning was homemade by the charming... more

This was our first experience in a B and B, and it was delightful. The house is located in the central part of the historic district of Charleston on Wentworth and includes breakfast ( yummy quiche) and tea with a sweet every afternoon. We had wonderful breakfast conversations with the other occupants who were from all over the world. There... more

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the 1837 B&B! Thanks Jane for the directions, tips, friendliness and service! All of you work hard and it pays off. Our room was nice, roomy and had homey feel to it. The girls, such as Ashley, Amanda, LeeAnn, etc., kept the room nice and clean without the feeling of being intrusive. Sitting on... more

This B&B is managed by an absentee owner who hired poor college students to run the place for him. Upon arriving (and starved), we tried to get information about where to have dinner. We were given a response of "anywhere on King Street." Well we walked around town for a whole hour--King street was dark and deserted. Then we find... more

We had an enjoyable stay here, and it was very conveniently located. However, part of the bed & breakfast experience is the breakfast itself. Generally speaking, it includes a variety of freshly prepared items. That is part of what the guest pays for, and the cost was high enough to warrant a quality breakfast. Usually, B&B establishments go out of... more

Rooms were just adequate. The manager (owner?) was snippy & downright unfriendly...so unlike any other B & B experience we've had. Food (breakfast) wasawful; a heavy cornebread, sausage casserole. Other diners requested alternatives to the meal & were given cold cereal. more

What a joy! My husband and I had the pleasure of a three day weekend at this charming, Charleston B & B. The location is just perfect. Charleston is a great walking town, so a good location is important. 1837 is a great blend of a relaxing, quiet "home away from home" while being close to the important sites in... more

My girlfriend and I just returned from a Charleston weekend focused around the Cooper River Bridge Run. We wanted to stay in a bed and breakfast closer to The College of Charleston and Marion Square, and 1837 B&B seemed like the right choice. We were a little nervous after reading some terrible reviews comparing it to a 'Super 8', so... more

My husband and I stayed for two nights and loved this place. The price is very reasonable, less than most other accommadations, which is what attracted us first . A delicious, full breakfast was included and also an afternoon tea with freshly made sweets. The Innkeeper is a "unique find"! We loved her. She has been in this postion for... more

Okay, so I've never actually stayed at a super 8 and I am probably insulting them, but this was BAD and kept getting worse. I will try to be brief because there are so many issues. Upon arriving we were not greeted by any innkeeper or manager or anyone. We had to leave our car in limbo in the street... more
