My husband and I stayed at Charleston Place for two nights based largely on what I read on the TA web site. For the most part the hotel was fine but for those who don't like large hotels (400 rooms) you might want to stay elsewhere. The hotel's web site is quite alluring as well...the pool looks amazing. What they... more

After all that was read about Charleston Place - the Spa left us sorely disappointed. The relaxation room was very busy - in particular, a spa attendent came in and out of the room for seemingly no reason about 10 times. The spa treatments were subpar - one masseuse actually left the room for 10 minutes in the middle of... more

Excellent hotel. Great, great restaurants, definitely a super orient-express breakfast buffet, wonderful shopping, perfect location (SPOLETO FESTIVAL, attractions, horse carriage private rides, sights etc....) The SPA is excellent as well. Overall, I love this hotel and will be going back every year at least during the time of the Spoleto festival. more

You can't beat the location of this property. The lobby is big and charming and you are steps to dining, drinking and shopping. The city is small so you can walk everywhere pretty quickly. If you get sick of walking take a rickshaw bike - a great way to get back to the hotel at night! Lunch at their Palmetto... more

This is a great hotel, very central for Charleston restaurants and shopping. The hotel resturant is excellent and the bar very welcoming, My wife and I enjoyed our weekend stay and would thoroughly recommend Charleston Place for your stay in Charleston, it is by far the best hotel available. more

I spent two midweek nights at Charleston Place on business and had an exceptional time exploring both the city and the region. For the most part, the hotel reinforced my fantastic experience. It’s hard not to fall in love with Charleston Place since it’s so unbelievably well located on King Street in the heart of Downtown Charleston, a place which... more

I have stayed at the hotel many times over the years and it was always wonderful. This time I noticed that the property seemed rather shabby and worn out in the furnishings. The halls needed more lighting and the rooms needed updating. The staff as always was very helpful and polite. We had breakfast everyday in the Palmetto Cafe and... more

We stayed here for a week in April. A beautiful hotel located in a beautiful city. Our room was on the third floor and it was very nice. The bed was extremely comfortable. The airconditioning was slightly noisy, but not too bad. The staff was very friendly and courteous. The lobby bar was wonderful. We never ate at the restaurants,... more

I recently returned from a three night stay at Charleston Place. I am going to give as detailed a review as possible in order to answer any questions that someone may have as a prospective guest. I was on a group rate of $299/night, which seemed to be about $100 less than you'd pay off the street. The 3 stars... more

Management response from
CharlestonPlace, General Manager

As the General Manager of Charleston Place I was very pleased that a recent guest with the username “mrmemedoes” took the time to post such a thorough review of our property. While I am very appreciative of the many positive comments this guest had about our location, our staff, and service, I was disappointed to read the negative comments. It...

I stayed here with a relative who was at the Charleston Place for a business trip. I found it to be one of the best hotels I have stayed in, and I have stayed in several recently in both the US as well as Europe and far western Asia. The spa was lovely and the bar had a wonderful atmosphere.... more
