Not fancy but was comfortable. Each room has a theme. Our room was the Harley Davidson Room. Internet service in room. Didn't eat there so can't say about food. more

Hotel was very disappointing. Staff unfriendly, rooms unkept. We arrived to a third floor suite, quite spacious, older furniture (unstable), bathroom so small you couldn't move around. Someone had punched a hole in a cabinet, which was not fixed. Electrical junctions and boxes exposed. Bed, comfortable to a certain extent. Parking horrible. There were better options in town for sure.... more

I stayed here for one night on August 27,2009, that was enough. The hotel started in 1902 and my room looked like it. I think they were trying to preserve it the way it looked back then. Sure the hotel has history and the main floor lobby like nice but that's where it ends. My room was so outdated. Huge... more

The Franklin Hotel is very old. When I went into the lobby I thought it was very charming. The downstairs looks antique yet in excellent shape. That was where it ended. The stairs moved and creeked. That should have been my first clue. My husband and I received a room on the fourth floor. When we walked into the room... more

Don't be fooled - historic means old, unkempt, shabby, and gross. This place is such a dump. I wish the rating includes no stars. Parking is horrible, service is awful and the rooms - oh my god, what a dump!!!! We stayed at a cabin the night before in Keystone and that cabin was so much better than this dump... more

The Franklin Hotel is more than 100 years old. It has lots of wrinkles. If you're staying there for the hotel experience, you're in the wrong place, maybe even the wrong town. If you're staying there for a real Deadwood experience, you'll have fun. I'm from the area, now living in Arizona, and just spent four days at the Franklin.... more

We stayed at the Old Franklin Hotel on our way back home from Montana last summer. The entrance to the lobby was nice, and the stairway leading upstairs was beautiful. There was a tour bus full of people on a gambling junket, so we were unable to get a large room like my husband had on a previous visit. We... more

I have stayed at the Historic Franklin Hotel several times and every time has been a wonderful experience. Each time was in a different room. I'll start with the reservations. I have always booked through their website or called directly. Know that there is a "motorlodge" that is part of their complex. I have always requested the main hotel and... more

Over the last five years my wife and I meet with the soldiers that I served with in VietNam 1967-68. This Year was Deadwood SD. Franklin Hotel was one of the old Hotels. My wife and I love history and the Hotel is right in town. We stayed in the Willie Nelson room, what a treat. Big bed rooms, large... more

When you hear the word 'historic' to describe someplace, it often means that the place is and rundown. This is not the case with the Franklin. The hotel entrance/lobby area is very nice and gives an authentic feel of a 100 year old hotel. Don't go into a stay at the Franklin expecting 5 star accommodations because you will be... more
