I had the pleasure of staying in the Coachhouse for a week with my family. We loved the place and the location. The kids are still talking about it and we plan to return with extended family in 2011. Margaret and Liam were wonderful hosts. From coming out to find us, hopelessly lost late at night on the night of... more

Wow, what a fantastic place Ballyhannon Castle is, upon our return home I am already thinking when we can go back. The Castle is restore beautifully keeping the feel of a Castle, but providing all the modern day facilities needed including superbly decorated and furnished bathroom facilities as well as a very serviceable kitchen area. The open fires add to... more

Ballyhannon castle is somewhere you must visit. It's great to see such an old castle keeping it's old feel but with some modern touches to give you some of life's creature comforts. The coach house is also a must if you are travelling in a large party. It's also set in a beautiful part of Ireland with some fantastic views.... more

I can't recommend this castle enough. It is beautiful and very authentic but also the height of comfort. This is my second visit, first a family party for parents anniversary, this time a friends get together, I'll be looking for my next excuse! Surrounding Clare is a wonderful place with so much to see and do and the local village... more

We booked both the castle and the coach house for my mother's surprise 60th birthday party. Margaret suggested we bring her through the portcullis upon arrival to greet the assembled guests in the dining hall, and it was indeed the grand entrance we had hoped for. A large number of people were in attendance, so after viewing photos of the... more

Ballyhannon castle is truly a unique location operated by some of the friendliest and most hospitable people we have ever met. Margaret and Liam could not have been more accomodating. We came to the castle for the wedding of our oldest daughter and it met all our expectations. Margaret was a great host that worked hard to insure that we... more

My husband and I just spent an amazing 7 days in Ballyhannon Castle and had the experience of a lifetime. Even though it was just the two of us alone in a stone walled castle, it still had a unique sense of coziness. We had a blast each day going up and down the spiral stairwell exploring every aspect of... more

My family and I (wife, son, two daughters, son-in-law, mother, mother-in-law, brother, sister, sister-in-law, niece, her husband, teenage nephew) wanted to have the ultimate Irish experience. So I looked into renting an authentic Irish castle, while staying on the west coast of Ireland. There were several choices, but few that would accommodate 14 people. Margaret was very pleasent to deal... more

Look no farther! I picked Ballyhannon from a dozens of potential castle rentals for my 40th birthday celebration, and had the best two weeks of my life. You can read more at www.matts40th.com, but it was pure magic. The castle is as marvelous now as it was 500 years ago, what with the arrow slits and the roof opening for... more
