Coxtown Manor is a beautiful place in a lovely spot. We stayed in the modern part, and the room was very large and very comfortable (with a great bathroom). The public rooms in the older part of the house have great charm and after a day wandering around (this was a research trip, so it was part business and part... more

We stayed here while attending a wedding in Donegal. We paid 100EUR per night per double room and it was a real bargain. The only drawback is possibly the location, which is about 6 miles outside Donegal. Having said that, the surrounding countryside is lovely and it only cost about 10EUR in a taxi to get to Donegal in the... more

This country house is in a remote area of Donegal, but is well worth the trip. We completely enjoyed our stay here. We arrived early in the day and were warmly welcomed by the owner/chef, Edouard, who made us feel immediately at home. He clearly loves his country house and has created an atmosphere that is elegant, yet informal. The... more

We stayed here for two nights in March and rate it one of our best weekends. I was disappointed when I booking to hear that the restaurant had closed - it had a great reputation, but I wasn't at all disappointed. We stayed in the main house, in room No. 1. It was a great combination of the old style... more

We got a lovely big room in the Coach house (great Jacuzzi!) and had some really nice bar food on our first night because we did not want to leave this place to go out . Had a wonderful breakfast the next morning. We spent hours by the fire place reading and doing nothing, but that is what it is... more

Very surprised at the positive reviews given to this place. It looks great from the outside but the interior is a huge disappointment as it totaly lacks any warmth, character and personality. The decor is terrible. Orange and yellow painted woodchip wallpaper anyone? The furniture in the rooms is cheap and characterless. My heart sank further when I entered the... more

We have just arrived home after what could only be described as a truly exhilarating and memorable weekend at Coxtown Manor. We were originally booked into one of the impressive courtyard rooms at the back of the manor but due to a late cancelation we were given the choice of room no. 3 within the main building itself. Not to... more

Of all the hotels I've ever stayed in, Coxtown Manor is without question the most memorable. Blissfully peaceful and exquisite surroundings with a landscape straight out of Somerville and Ross, better food than almost all of Irelan'd supposed best restaurants, and friendly but discreet staff. It has a thousand times more personality and individuality than any of Ireland's 5-star hotels,... more
