Drumcondra is the perfect base to explore Dublin, and Avoca House is the perfect place to stay! The Turners made us feel right at home, and after 3 nights we were as sad to leave them as we were to leave Ireland. We travelled Ireland for a week before coming to Dublin, and were tired and ready to relax. The... more

My daughter and I were guests at the Avoca B&B in August 2009. We were greeted very warmly by Jack the owner. He very quickly showed us all the amenites of the house. Although our room was small it was very comfortable and clean. We quickly discovered that we had left our toothpaste at our last place that we stayed... more

We've travelled from Australia for a month. This is the BEST B&B we've stayed in. The rooms are neat and beautifully furnished. The bathrooms are modern and the breakfasts tasty. Best of all Audrey & Jack made us feel extremely welcome. A stay at Avoca House made our Ireland trip. more

We stayed for three days. We always prefer B&Bs to hotels. Hotels are much more expensive, rarely in a calm environment (but located conveniently), sometimes not very clean and they charge you a fortune for breakfast. Jack and Audrey's house have none of the disadvantages and furthermore it is only a 15 minutes ride by bus into the city and... more

After spending about 10 days traveling Ireland, my partner, parents and cousin checked into the Avoca House in Dublin and immediately felt at home. Jack and Audrey adopted us immediately and were wonderful hosts. Their son Jonathan couldn't have been any kinder either. The surroundings were very comfortable, the location convenient, and the traditional Irish breakfast was so delicious. On... more

Stayed at Avoca House twice during our travels in Ireland and must admit it didn't meet the standards referenced in other reviews. Our first two days - also our first days in country - were marred by a loud gathering of the owner's son's friends the first night there as well as a very small, cramped room with an older... more

This B&B is at the top of the chart. My wife and I have stayed in about 15 B&Bs in Ireland and this is the best one of all. The room was spacious and immaculate and the beds were fine. The en-suite shower was faboulous. It had two main heads with one projecting a mist along with the conventional shower... more

We kept going back to Avoca House for the fantastic breakfast and welcoming owners. It is very well situated and the rooms are comfortable and homey. We would recommend the Avoca House to everyone. more

We stayed here for five days in October and really enjoyed our stay. The ONLY thing that prevented me from giving it five stars was that the bathroom/shower was microscopic (yes, even compared to other B&Bs) and there was nowhere to put shampoo/soap. I know this sounds trivial, so don't let this be something to rule out your staying here... more

Management response from

The bathroom and shower have been removed and the room extended. There is a new very large shower with power jets. The sink is a big modern one.The walls are all redone including the ceiling with beautiful lights inserted. The bathroom has been moved out to an off room still within the shower room space. All this was achieved by removing a bed...

We stayed atAvoca-house for 10days in may 2008. From the very first day we felt the athmosphfer of friendly hospitality . We can only be sorry for them who did the wrong choice, decided to stay at another B&B in Dublin. Avoca-house is outstanding! There is even a little mascot called Mandy. She is a charming little dog. She never... more
