This hotel is in one of the nicest parts of the country... it has good staff, excellent food and is the perfect place from which to discover the delights of connemara. Earlier reviews are a bit harsh but this place could definitely do with a face lift especially the front of the hotel. The reception area needs work and also... more

Just come home from a 2 night stay at the Peacock hotel. We went for a short relaxing break and that is what we got. The bedrooms were clean and comfortable. Pity about the water been brown but thats not the fault of the hotel, bring bottled water!! The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. The food was delicious. more

I am the chair of a Galway based social orgnaisation which is made up in part by some Americans living in Galway. Our group wanted a get-way in Connemara for a relaxing weekend to hike and hang out together in an informal setting. Since it was our group’s first outing, I felt like choosing the right place and offering a... more

This hotel is great value, we stayed there and had a great time. The staff couldn't have been nicer, great food and fantastic location. If you are looking for views, the drive from Galway and then on to Clifden is fabulous. It has a lovely coffee shop, with a craft shop beside it. Got chatting to one of the locals... more

We were greeted straight away by a very friendly Manager and who during our stay, often asked us how we were, if the rooms were ok and if there was anything they could do to help. The Hotel is very cosy, well presented and clean. The Bedrooms are very modern, well kept and spotlessly clean. We were provided with fresh... more

we didn't stay just stopped for a bite to eat. This was our second time doing so since it underwent new ownership. We had assumed that things could only get better but we were wrong.During our last visit in January the bar was cold and without atmosphere. The fireplace had not been cleaned even though it was the afternoon. However when... more

My husband and I, along with my brother-in-law and his wife, have just returned from a five day break at Peacockes Hotel. The hotel was a shambles. The showers didn’t work, our toilet seat was not connected properly, the phone didn’t work and the public phone in the foyer was hanging off the wall. We had to ask for heat... more

We stayed in Maam Cross because we wanted to see Conemara. Had an offer of cheap accommodation in Ireland which covered a number of hotels, including Peacocke's. We had seen some bad reviews but figured we only needed a base to sleep at night as we would be travelling around during the day. From the minute we arrived for our... more

The water in the hotel is of a 'brownish' colour which is normal for this area as we have our own water treatment plant from the lake, the water is treated & tested and is very safe to drink. It is also tested a few times a year including a test done by the health board so the staff were...

We decided to take a short break away in the west only to be ripped off and leave more stressed than when we arrived. We waited 20 minutes to be checked in as there was no one at reception when we checked in. We arrived to a ringing phone and an empty reception, when the receptionist eventually arrived she really... more

Thank you for your comment, however I would like to state that all rooms are provided with towels and bathroom supplies as standard. All rooms are spotless clean and all rooms are checked prior to all arrivals. Our rate was not 150 for the date you stayed so saying you paid this was perhaps a little misleading. Paper napkins for...

Awful hotel - Agree with some of the other posts here - the hotel smells [--]! The walls, carpet etc are dirty and need to be painted/replaced. The restaurant is of very poor quality - like a bedroom with a few tables in it - the food is v. mediocre for the money. Funniest thing about it is that 'The... more
